Where would you go, Northstar or Vail.

Alright NS...I need your help. I've been offered the same job at both Northstar and Vail, and I'm trying to decide where I should go. I don't really want to say what job it is exactly, but it's in Mtn. Ops, and a fairly coveted job.

I just can't decide. Both have their pro's and con's. What I'm saying is, if you could choose between the two, which would you choose??

Honestly dude, Northstar. I just moved to Tahoe after living in Colorado for a year (Breck/Vail area), and this place blows Summit County out of the water. Tahoe is where it's at. Northstar has a sick park and Squaw has some of the best skiing in America hands down.

Tahoe. Definitely.

tough decision, north lake is more chill than south lake....vail is chiller than summit county...

what type of skiing you like better? vail is pretty sick on a pow day, so is the beave

theres a lot of places around northstar that are good for pow days, but then you have to pay.

both have decent parks

id say summertime in tahoe would be better if its a year round job.

both have very different towns though, what kind of town do you want to live in?

Northstar has a good park, but you really want to get a Alpine or Squaw pass too if you're gonna be living there all season. You'll get bored skiing N* everyday.

yeah, and if youre in Vail you can go to Beave right next door and Key/Breck/A-bay all on your season pass...i dont know why this is even a question, plus Vail is like 3-4x bigger than N*

Ive skied northstar 5 times i think, and i worked in vail, i say vail.

Northlake for sure. Squaw, Alpine, sick mountains. Northstar has killer parks. Mt. Rose gets snow early. Plus you've got Sierra and Kirkwood not too far away.

i'd say vail (i live here) but shit is way expensive, like right now its $3.12 for a gallon of gas. we got DANK ass weed too. but i've never been out to tahoe so i wouldnt know about out there. vail has a sweet park, somewhat comparable to keystone or breck. sick "festivals" you could call them (vail snow daze, spring back to vail) that bring in pretty big names in music. this year for snow daze, OAR, weezer and mixmaster mike are playing. so i'd say vail but definately get roommates to help pay rent and stuff like that

Vail and North Lake are both expensive places to live.  Northstar isn't anything special compared to Vail, but I assume you'd also get to ski Heavenly for free.  Tahoe is definitely cooler in the summer with the lake and everything.

its 3.21 in ny for gas, but back on topic... vail is way better skied both for a decent amount of time, vail sucked last year but this year is suppose to be sick!

ya im wondering how the bud in cali is too. LOL, they have had medical for 15 years, so the bud is dank. Though very dank in CO also, so he does not have to worry about that. it rains in Tahoe though so i say go to colorado.

buds are good both places, cali is cheaper if you know where to look. co is pretty consistent

Pros and cons of Northstar

Pros:
Sick park
Sick superpipe
Its in Tahoe

Cons:
Relatively flat terrain
Tons of beginners everywhere
20 minute walk from parking lot to gondola, then another 10 minute just to get on a chairlift
Weekends are a no go, unless you want to wait in lift lines for 15 minutes
Gets boring quick

If you go to Northstar you have to get a pass somewhere else as well like Squaw or Alpine, otherwise you'll hate yourself for it. Northstar is a sick place to go during the week for some park shredding, but if you want to do any real skiing its not the place at all.

If you're going to come to Tahoe just forget about Northstar altogether, buy a pass to Squaw and one to Boreal.

CO is amazing in the winter, meh in the summer unless you mountain bike.  Tahoe has summer and winter activities. Vail is dough too, I would say Tahoe. IMO

Northstar honey buns. i live in carson City NV like an hour away from northy and its amazing. Same with Alpine Meadows and sqauw and heavenly and kirkwood and all those amazing places

So the job is for a terrain park position. Does that change anyone's suggestions??

Looks like I'll have to make a decision by tomorrow. God damn quick decisions suck.

never been to vail, but northstar has such a sick park. working park seems like it would be fun there, only there really isnt any good big mountain or anything, good tree skiing though.

I live in squaw and work as a ski instructor in the winter. i think northstar is similar to squaw pay wise. northstar is kinda flat on a pow day (not ripping on them) but they have one of the best parks in the tahoe area. i think notrthstar would be the better move. And tahoes just the place to be in the winter!

vail for sure! it's huuuge. park is good. great on a pow day. you also have the option to ski east vail aswell. plus the beav is next door and a-bay/breck/keystone are all close by. Woodward at copper is also 10-15mins away. Also fun in the summer.

So.. what's the question here?

I would say Vail because with the pass you can ski more than just two resorts in Tahoe, when you can Five resorts in CO that are better in different ways. Vail is expensive but is a pretty chill place. I would say vail
