The end of diving boards?

its seems that as the years pass more and more places lose their diving boards. I can only think of one place that isn't a university within an hours drive of me that has a diving board. They too have been told for years that they should get rid of them. no one in the place's existence has gotten hurt on them so why take them away? There was even a special on 60 minutes i watched on it. I don't wanna grow up and tell my kids that there used to be these things called diving boards and they were soo fun. I understand the lawsuits might happen, but if there hasn't been any serious injury on any that i can think of why take them away? why take away the only fun part of swimming? If someone gets hurt why should it be the diving board or the place that is nice enough to still offer them to you's fault? Anyone's thoughts before its too late

The biggest problem isn't diving boards. It's stupid people and asshat judges that award a shit ton money for the most bullshit things.

Something needs to change, or will it remain the same as it ever was?

i dont fucking understand this.

theres an awesome dive pool at my university and the two 3m boards are permanently closed to the public and the two 1m boards, which are still fun as fuck, are only open 1 hour a day. the rest of the time the pool is used for "warm water therapy" and scuba diving training.

yeah it seems that the only diving boards are now indoors and are only used for diving teams. the place i swim at is an old quarry that filled up with water and has a 1, 2, and a 3 meter board. People won't get hurt if they have been around them and know how to use them, but i don't wanna be on a team! that's during ski season! How is anyone going to be able to compete in diving if their are never eve given a chance?

I work at a pool, we still have a diving board. But new laws make our deep end illegal. So as soon as our diving board breaks its gone.. sucks so bad.. Ived worked at this pool for 4 years..not one injury has occurred on the diving board..I dont get this.

Figured I'd say that the gym, around a ten minute walk from my dorm, has nice diving boards that are free to use and usually not crowded at all.

It's gonna go the way of the merry go round though. Dumbass people like this ruining it for the rest of us. An attempt to protect us from ourselves I guess.
