I dont believe a live being should get its ass kicked repeatedly and tortured until death. And I know for a fact not all slaughter houses work that way. It is large corporations that treat the animals that way.

if anyone wants to get some real information watch Food Inc. if you dont care whatever i dont blame you. But these people can make this business more clear than a retired beatle can.

As much as i love meat, you are wrong when you say this. We were not made to eat meat. Red meat is very hard for the stomach and intestines to digest and has been know to cause colon cancer. Just trying to clarify, we can eat meat but we are not made to.

the reason slaughter houses are like this isn't because of people who enjoy a nice steak. its because of corruption and government regulation. Just cuz you stop eating meat, doesnt mean they stop killing it so going vegi is pointless as well. Meat is part of a healthy diet, obviously not all meat all day cuz then you'll be motoring around in a scooter with your sweatpanted fupa just chilling like those obese fucks, but like everything else meat is good in moderation. Fun fact 90% of ground beef in america contains feces. yum yummmm. just buy your meat locally from local farmers and hunters who do that shit right. dont buy FDA regulated shit meat cuz thats the gross stuff. All the major owners of the massive slaughter houses are in cahoots with the head honchos over at the FDA and they're all sucking eachothers golden teets.

people should not stop eating meat because they want to make a difference for the animals, that seems like a pretty ridiculous reason to change your eating habits.
Eating no meat just makes me feel healthy so I just dont eat meat.

i am already a vegetarian mainly because industrial farming is just disgusting. i haven't had red meat in over ten years and i don't feel as if i am missing out on anything.. especially looking at the meat served in the dining hall

It is a fact that being a conscientious consumer pays dividends...it's good to buy locally for a slew of reasons....the ability to peek at their facilities and/or practices being one of many.

I agree with the sentiment of many that it's sad that living creatures are subjected to that sort of "life", but you have to remember that the creators of that video have an agenda and a bias and are actively seeking to persuade.

I don't think the whole "hahaha fuck you, I'm glad, I'mma eat a steak" thing is really necessary, but I love meat and wouldn't give it up because of some moral or ethical issue. I think people should be thankful that we're where we're at on the food chain, and kind of regard animals that we consume with a kind of respect and gratitude....kind of a bastard hybrid of a hippie/native american outlook. I'm not saying I perform rituals before I demolish a steak, or that the animal the meat comes from even always enters my mind before I eat, but if I do think about it, I'm grateful.

anyways, obviously the blood has to drain, but the way they do it in the movie doesn't seem as efficient as you would expect from a slaughterhouse producing tons of meat per day. That's what I was trying to say. These movies peta puts out are of ma and pa backwoods meat slaughtering plants and not representative of what goes on daily.

what seems more efficient, kicking a pig to death or nailing it in the head with this? instant goodnight

i was vegetarian for six years, and then i decided I couldn't live without bacon and steak. mmmmm. honestly, while I don't think it's necessary to treat the animals they way (some of them) are treated, meat is an essential and tasty part of our diet and keeps us healthy and happy. I try to buy as much free-range food as possible and make sure I know where my meat comes from, but sometimes its just impossible to pass up a delicious slab of baby cow.

This is fucking immature, unintelligent propoganda and its fucking obvious. I can find falicies in half of the sentences, no jokes. What they do is show you images and describe you shit that goes down in the sketchyest of places and present it in a way that makes you beleive its like that everywhere. people should be smarter than this, come on guys.

MatRich's quick guide to PROPEGANDA

1: they take the worst cases of abuse and present it as the comon practice. this is so inacurate.

2: use of adjectives that make the situation look bad. they describe the trip for example as grueling. what does this mean? nothing. I find it grueling to sit in a car during traffic, thus the word applies. by saying this we assume that they are beaten into the truck standing on top of each other or something but thats not the case. pig transport is far from cruel in most cases.

3: out of context: the pigs for example that are twitching when they get their throat cut: they take it out of context and say that its the pig thats concious when the reality is that its their brain that is fried and the heart keeps going to drain the blood. the twitching is caused by nerve impulses, the pig is far gone as soon as hes shocked.

4: personify the animals. give them properties that are human so that people relate to them and feel bad. fishes dont have motherfucking personalities, I have seen research on dogs that concluded they dont have personality. dont tell me a motherfucking fish is more outgoing than an other. reality: THEIR FUCKING ANIMALS.

5: show images of shit thats illegal but dont mention it is. Big net fishing is illegal all over the world. they only mentioned it would be illegal to kill any other animal this way. well it is illegal to kill fish this way also but thats never mentioned.

6:the classic slowmotion black and white or dessaturated look. look for it in elections, the other party is always presented like this, we naturaly associate this look to something eerie and bad.

7: PAUL FUCKING MCARTNY. providing the cool factor. just like prpoganda commercials like beuty products with jessica simpson or something saying that she always uses some shity product. he serves the same purpous of being cool.

there you have it. now you have the basic elements to make a bullshit propoganda video like this one to convert idiot teens like Im sure we will find in this thread. I think most of you are more intelegent than this though

humans are fucking scary. what other animal hangs it's "prey" by its feet and lets it bleed out through its neck, then has it die slowly in a pool of its own blood? It almost made me want to be vegetarian, but there are so many annoying vegetarians (who do it for attention) who have preached this shit, and I swore never to be one. But after seeing this video, I might cut back. defiantly buy range free ect.

1.) these worst case scenarios that you're talking about occur to the vast, vast majority of slaughtered livestock. big agriculture accounts for a ridiculous percentage of all food production. so you're wrong there.

4.) couple of things wrong with this one. 1.) there is no evidence to suggest that dogs don't have personalities. in fact, there's a wealth of information to the contrary. 2.) even if this were true (which, to be certain, it isn't) this doesn't make it "right" to cause needless suffering to a sentient being, as well as sacrificing the health of the human who will eat it in the name of profit.

3 and 5, while "technically" valid criticisms, don't actually attack the face of the argument, so are pretty much worthless.

My second hunting expedition for elk:

3 days later we finally saw an elk... too bad it was a mom with it's calf so we wouldn't shot it. 2 days after that we finally got a bull elk. Took all the meat for our selves. Sold everything else to the taxedermist.

first off, the dog argument is a valid argument based on an actual study which concluded that dogs didnt likely have different personalities (even though, and I agree with you, they seem to all be different) this argument didnt question the right to beat animals for profit. it showed that personification is used to have an emotional apeal= falicy.

2, 6 and 7: if they realy are, then respond I will clearly lose the argument. they are clearly stupid. they are techniques that they use and that are recognised. I dont remember what they were but off of my head I remember the black and white and maybee the host. The black and white slowmotion is a technique used in propaganda especialy ware propoganda. it is recognised as a technique to instill a creepy and scary feeling and is taught in any respectable film school.

the host plays a huge factor in the apeal of the video, saying otherwise is stupid. there is a huge market for endorcing celebrities for commercials because of the impact it has on the consumer.

and no, please do not say that it occurs to the vast majority of the livestock, you have clearly been listening in. go to your local slaughterhouse and see how clean it is.

none of your arguments actually attack at the core of meat.org's. and, although irrelevant, it's not true that dogs don't have personalities, there have been many studies (Sam Gosling, Stanley Coren) that pretty much prove otherwise. but still, the "argument" on meat.org, though not clearly defined, is that cruelty to sentient beings with advanced nervous systems is morally wrong. none of your arguments contradict that central point. they rotate around how the "argument" was packaged, and while probably effective, i agree that it wasn't based in what could necessarily be called sound rhetoric.

everyone here is probably gonna find him a bit radical, but look up peter singer if you actually want a logical approach to it.

I'm gonna have to agree with MatRich on this one. Pure propaganda. Not only was it pretty misleading in some instances, they relied way too heavily on scare tactics and ridiculous worst case scenario claims at the end. I'm not denying that some of the shit in the world of meat processing is fucked up, but PETA is just an awful organization, mostly just because of how unprofessional they are. I just think they handle things in the completely wrong way.
