i get 22 hours out of my standard EVO battery. just have to set it up properly. all smart phones suck fucking battery like no other though. at least with a droid you can drop in a spare battery so you aren't tied to a charger all of the time like you are with the iphone.
OP - it really depends on what your friend, uncle, whoever is getting the phone, is going to use it for. if they are a very heavy email user, and use a corporate exchange server, then it might be better to go the route of a blackberry. i say this because the droid lacks the ability to remote wipe the device as of yet, so some companies aren't allowing them to be synced with their network due to security issues.
if this isn't an issue, then I'd personally choose the droid x over the incredible. the x has the larger screen...the incredible's screen is just too damn small. the x also has pc sync, so you can sync all of your outlook contacts, calendar, etc. right out of the box. this might be pretty important if he uses MS Outlook.
i would not recommend the Droid 2. It's too fucking big. Realistically, that keyboard probably won't even get used much once he gets used to the touch screen. that seems to be a common trend these days. the touch screens have come so far, that a keyboard is almost a hassle. plus it makes the phone weight 40000 lbs.
so those are my recommendations. i spent about 6 years in telecom and am currently one of the telecom managers for a large corporation. not trying to claim, just letting you know I'm somewhat versed in this. feel free to ask me any questions. or don't. whatever, i'm bored and can't sleep.
