Pole length

so im from england so obviously when i ski its in week chunks.

my poles come up to the bottom of my pecks

just wondering whether this is too long for freestyle of short poles are just to look better.

i also ski groomers and pow when i go ski and is it better with normal length poles for this.

far too long. You want them to be long enough to be functioinal for pushing but not so long that they get in the way.

technically when you hold your poles your elbow should make a perfect right angle. For pow thats good, but for freestyle i like my poles shorter than that because i snag longer poles on my skis.

Mine are slightly longer than when my arms are fully extended at each side. So that with my knees bent I can skate and push off, but they don't come anywhere close to touching the ground when skiing.

right angle elbows is about where it should be. But its usually going to be best just to go into a shop, stand as if you're skiing, and hold the poles to see if it's comfortable. of course you won't know for sure til you use them, but you can normally get a good idea of whether or not it just seems right.

i don't know, maybe it's just me, but i normally find the perfect poles by trial and error.

man, every year park rats want their poles shorter and shorter. It's pretty funny. But there comes a point where they're so short they're not even functional on the hill like in the bumps and steeps.

So yeah waist height is a good ball park estimate.

I'm 5'10" and use a 120cm, it's a little shorter than traditional length but my no means jib sticks. Don't know how good at freestyle you are but if you aren't that good and have tiny poles you just will not look good.

I don't know how long they are but when I extend my arms straight down with my fingertips pointing to the ground, they come just below my wrists.

I gotta make them just short enough so that if you stand directly on top of them they can't reach your balls, that makes for two less things you could nut yourself on out there!

I'm 5'11", and I have 120 cm poles for general skiing, and 110 for park.
