I will never understand why people think marriage is such a big deal. Truth is marriage didnt mean shit 50 years ago and doesnt mean shit now, except to the religious community.
I will never understand how people can declare "I'm not religious, I dont believe in god!" to then immediately declare "Homosexuality is wrong! Divorce is wrong! Sanctity of marriage!!!" but never give a reason other than "Thats my opinion, and if you ask me why I'll just yell and swear!!!!!"
i'm gonna be a martyr here, i have lesbian parents and i'm strait.
it may be true that the environment that you're raised in has a effect on your outlook on homosexuality, but it has no effect on whether you are gay or not.
saying someone can turn you gay is complete bullshit
There are those people who are bathed with the right amount of testosterone in the womb, and should be straight, but find out here gay in their teens.
But for in most cases, their born gay because they didn't receive enough testosterone in the womb.
and for lesbians, they receive to much testosterone.
Well what about the gay dudes who have high pitch voices, and are small, and act like girls?
They must have been lacking testosterone in the womb. Well that's what our professor told us.
We didn't go that far into this btw. it was a side discussion to something else in class.
I got sick of reading during the second page, but I have an important point to make against the legalization of gay marriage.
A man and a man cannot create life. Nor can a woman and a woman. These romantic relationships are unnatural. Pretty soon, everyone will be gay, and life will cease to exist, just like in south park when they made a big gay pile to try to prevent the future from happening.
I'll support surrogate mothers and test tube babies being "supplied" to a man and a woman who are unable to conceive, but not to two gay people who want to raise a child together.
if you are in the closet you are still gay, people think that they turn gay because of the environments they live in, but i believe that that doesn't make a difference.
TRUE people can be more comfortable coming out in different environments, but it doesn't "turn" them gay.
period
Lmao kid. All your posts start with something along the lines of "wow you're so wrong..*insert statement to show you how wrong he thinks you are*"
...and then you post mindless horseshit. There is no gay gene. Their only guesses was that it was genetic, and after proving there is no gay gene, that dissipated.
Stop taking such an up front and personal stand against other peoples' opinions just because your mothers are affected by this. I understand why you would, but seriously, don't think that everyone in here who doesn't immediately jump on the Pro-Gay Marriage hype train is ignorant in all aspects and an asshole.
Blah blah blah. Have your opinions all you want just dont impose them upon me...
non-hardcore religious people aren't making religious people HAVE gay marriages... they arent IMPOSING their shit on you guys... so what's the big deal? why the hatin?
just to respond to your BS so we're really clear here..
many straight couples dont have children. many couples have way too many children. in all seriousness one of the last things we have to worry about on this earth is not producing enough babies. so worrying that some couples dont have babies is fucking retarded. i also dont see you trying to block the legality of marriages that don't produce babies.
i'll assume you were joking in that other post when you said that pretty soon the whole world might turn gay. if you werent, tell me
kangbang you can shove that inb4 religion talk up your ass because it doesnt matter what religion says here-- as much as certain people would like it, we aren't a fucking theocracy and we have separation of church and state.
No hating. And I will have my opinions all I want. As will you! Everyone has them. The big deal is that gay rights are a huge factor in the elections coming up, and its been filling every medium of media out there, cramming everyone's opinions down everyone else's throats. Just like this thread. Just like me.
Some of the more intelligent people in this thread, whether for or against gay rights, have sound reasoning for their opinion. Mine happens to be my faith and spirituality (NOT religion). If that isn't sound reasoning, and makes me ignorant in your eyes, then I am sorry for your close-mindedness.
But, as someone else stated already, this will all just turn into a spiritual conversation/debate. Which I'm not really interested in doing.
Everyone is entitled to believe and support whatever they want, and has to understand that their views will not always be well received by each and every last person. People don't agree. I understand that. I just figured I would throw my two cents in on this whole deal.
I'm closeminded? HELLO... look at yourself... you dont understand that it might actually be alright for gay guys to... (omg!) MARRY each other like EVERYONE ELSE.
Open youre eyes, and close your faithbook for a minute before you start throwing your hands in the sky and yell 'what is this world coming to!'
not true, there are so many gay samoans at my school because if the parents wanted a girl but got a boy, they raise it as a girl, and they are now gay. so are you saying its coincidence that all of these men raised like girls are gay? gay is a choice that is heavily influenced on how you are raised and your surroundings. I do support gay marriage and rights though, lets not get that twisted
I think that homosexuals hould be allowed the benefits of marriage and properly united in the eye of the law; however, the term used to describe the union should be something other than "marriage". This will keep the religious nuts from being able to claim that it ruins the sanctity of marriage and on the other hand they get the same benefits and official union. Marriage has always been refered to as union between man and woman, just use a different word.
Actually, yes, you do. Adam and Steve is an attempt to imply intelligent design, which is only valid if a god exists, and even then, morally, the leviticus passages you kids love to quote are cherry picked from amongst many passages.
Its very presumptuous of you to think that any obscure quote from Leviticus has anything to do with my stance. And to refer to me (and my alleged cohorts) as "you kids," having no idea my age or spiritual background.
You can PM your thoughts about God, intelligent design, moral standards, and Leviticus, because I'm done here.
Well you quote christian dogma (adam and steve), and you take the stance of a conservative christians (speaking about elections), and you have the thought process of an ill-educated child who never paid attention in seminary school. Therefore, my assumption is either physically, or metaphorically correct.
Also, your lack of knowledge of Leviticus makes your opinions invalid, because it is the masthead argument of the religious right.
which has nothing to do with the problems of the things you've said, which is:
if marriage is only for making babies then heterosexual couples who are infertile, and old geezers who've stopped dropping eggs or are shooting blanks cannot get married. Furthermore anyone who is married but does not produce offspring in a reasonable time frame deserves to have their marriage stripped from them.
One simple question: God doesn't like atheists. Do you support two Atheist people getting married? Your God surely doesn't accept Muslims. Are you opposed to the idea that two Jewish or Muslim people can get married in our 'land of freedom?'(Man and Woman, of course. WE WOULDN'T WANT GAY MUSLIMS WOULD WE??!)
I'm assuming you either don't like separation of church and state, and are therefore one of the least patriotic patriots I've ever had the displeasure of coming across, or you do and are simply misinformed about what exactly gay marriage is.
