Hiking Advice

So basically me and a couple of buddies are planning on hiking a short ways up Stevens this weekend, they have like 20 inches of snow or so and a good amount at the base. Yes or no?

Also, as of currently it's 33 and "snowing"

i just did a hike through the snow last week as well. it was only in 6 inches, but crampons help alot, but in your case i would almost recomend snowshoes. also, make sure your not the ones breaking the trail if your unfamiliar with the area. bring a backpack filled with warm clothes, thermals, wind pants and jacket etc...

best thing to do:

go to that ridge area in between daisy and hogsback and there shud be hella pillows or bring up trash cans (those big grey ones) ther pretty lightweight and u cud make some sick jibs and features if u bring up more than one

i dont think so iv never hiked out there before but one of my buddies has and i dont think he got into any trouble. im pretty sure as long as u dont touch ther stuff (rails) ul be fine. also, on the stevens website go to the interactive map and click videos then above the parking lot there shud be a triangle of videos, click the top one (shud be labled pow shred 11-10-09) and thats a vid of some guys shreddin the pillows i was talkin about, pretty epic! i think i mite head up there in a few weeks if ther not aleready open. this seasons gona b sickk! whoa that was a long post...

yea same. i gotta talk to some people who have but I don't think it's gonna matter that much i guess, and yea this season is gonna be awesome. we live over in issaquah so its like a hour and a half or so dependig if they'res traffic. even if we get out there and only get 1 super short run in, ill be happy, cause ill know its that much closer to the season :) whoooo that was a long one too

No they don't...

to the OP you will never need crampons unless you're on ice, boilerplate, etc. snowshoes are pointless, just take turns breaking trail or skin.

you're going to get wet whenever it's snowing in the PNW so just wear layers like everyone says, no cotton.

multiple pairs of goggles, glasses, beanies, gloves. because you're going to get wet.

I like to throw in a rain jacket because..the snow here is really wet.

Thanks man, that's along the lines of what I had in mind. Either way, I get to see some snow after being dragged away by summer. Super stooooked
