i need halp.
my macbook pro will only boot up the the loading screen with the apple then it freezes before i can actually get to the home screen. the guy at the genius bar was able to get it running again, as did my younger brother, but its not working for me and its pissing me off because i spent my hard earned money on it.
any help is appreciated, thanks!

Try resetting the PRAM:
1. Shut down the computer.
2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
3. Turn on the computer.
4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
5. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
6. Release the keys.

hmmm, could be the Hard Drive, I'd take it to the Genius Bar and make sure they show you how to do it this time, they usually do, but sometimes they don't.

Flashkick..your a beast. you have such legit answers to everything. I am jealous. I would definitely agree with the Genius Bar recommendation. OP. It just depends on what size of hard drive you plan on getting. Good luck and vibes.

plus you can install it yourself and not pay a lot for it.

It depends on the size, I had to replace my 120Gb and it was like $115, however I know there were a bunch of defective ones a little while back (I know this cause I got a refund) so they might now charge you...not sure. It also not be your hard drive, it could be something else random that they can fix easy.

when i went to the genius bar the guy told me it was somewhat of a hard drive issue. apparently, my macbook is having problems registering my login info so it doesn't load. then when it does, it sometimes doesnt awake from sleep so i have to go through the whole process again

When you start your mac, hold the power button and the alt/option key and this will bring you to the disc boot menu, boot of Mac HD and youll be good to go. I have the same issue, your comp doesnt know where to boot to, this happened to me after i got rid of my windows partition.
