Was Revolver really that bad?

All I hear is hate about it. Just ordered it and I have continuous confidence in Poor Boyz that they put out a banger film every year. Besides using a lot of dubstep and "too much powder/backcountry" (are you people on crack?) what was so wrong with it. I'm pretty excited to get it in the mail...

The only thing I don't like about those pow segments is that they are all as rasta'd out as possible. They need to play some different music for those segments. Jeez. Otherwise, PBPs movies are banger.

The soundtrack sucked hard...And the editing wasn't really all that special either. The skiing and filming were excellent, but aside from the intro the soundtrack and editing were what killed it for me.

yeah, the soundtrack was really weird.

I don't think the movie was bad, but it wasn't as good as EDIAS and not nearly as good as like Eye Trip (that's the only other movie I've seen this year). It had a lot of good moments, but it also had some kinda boring parts.

ya, i definitely didn't like it as much as any of the other movies this year...and it was not even comparable to EDIAS. but still.. any thing with a little bit of some good skiing, gets me totally stoked. so i'm slightly neutral.

Dude, be very stoked to get it and watch it. I personally loved it...the skiing was insane as well as the cinematography. The music, in my opinion, isn't as bad as people are making it out to be either. There is a fair share of dubstep but some of the best seggys (dane, sammy, durtschi) aren't dubstep. Whether or not that's coincidence, I can't answer that. Is revolver really that bad? NO

I saw Revolver, Eye Trip, and The Way I See It --- And here are my humble comclusions:

1. Revolver was the best.  However, I did not feel completely stoked on each part of the movie.  Sammy's opening segment was mind blowing, and he was in the audience, so that added to how money it was.  Nevertheless, I wanted bounce after the 11th straight minute of the Dane Tudor section (no disrespect, great shredder, but that segment was 3x too long).  Tim Durtschi's section was only a let down because he segment in EDIAS was the best I have ever seen, period.  (And he got hurt).  Julien Regnier stole the show for me.  His POV footage in AK with old pal JP Auclair was inspiring.  Good to see the older dudes steal a bit of the lime light back from the new dudes. 

2. Eye Trip was by far the best for urban, without question.  Phil Casabon is on another planet with his segments.  Also, Mike Hornbeck has one of the best styles IMHO.

3. The Way I See It felt like every other MSP film ever made.  The shots are great and locations are far off and remote, but I can't get around the fact that this year's movie starred the exact same group as last year and the year before, etc, etc.  MSP has so much potential, but I think that is why I am more "moved" as a skier by the other two movies I saw from this year. 

After watching all 3 of them, I was convinced that PBP had made the best film.  When I buy it on DVD I will simply skip past Tudor's section so I stay stoked on the movie.  **Disclaimer -- Dane Tudor is a much better skier than I am or ever will be.  However, his sponsor Salomon paid for too much segment time - way too much!**

I thought the movie was terrible. There's definitely some sick segments, but the movie itself was not very good. No flow, repetitive soundtrack, wasn't structured right in my opinion. The intro however was fucking awesome, it was my favorite part of the movie.

i saw half of dumonts seg, sammy's part, and bene/nike 6.0 part without the sound on in a ski shop. The lack of sound sort of made it hard to really get the actual scope of it, but the footage was absolutely RIDICULOUS. really top notch stuff. I can't speak for the full thing or the overall intangible quality of it, but there is some banger footage in there.

I'm psyched...Also, does anyone know how long it takes to ship? I just ordered mine about 3 days ago. Just curious, I live in California and PBP is based out of Cali so I'm hoping not too long.

It wasnt 'bad' and i didnt even mind the music.   But compared to Eye Trip it was mediocre.   And im told The Way I See It is even better

I thought revolver and the way i see it were the sickest ones this year. eye trip wasnt as good as i hoped it'd be. And i think the reason i feel this way is because of the start of the movie with dadahli. if you were sick of the repetitive music in revolver you should have been sick of Ahmet's repetitive tricks with his jacket all open and shit. that was not the best way in my opinion to start the movie. thats all on my little rant

While I did not enjoy  the movie THAT much, it would be stupid to say it is not interesting. Sure I would skip a couple segments but that's how it's been with poor boyz in the past few years. Some segments are totally insane as far as the skiing goes and even if you dont like the music, the skiing makes up for it.

Honestly, I loved the choice of the first two parts of 2112 for JP's seggy. That fit perfectly with what he did, and his segment was beautifully full of variety. However, that seggy's editing was nothing special, and the same went for the rest of the movie. As for the soundtrack, I'm a glitch lover, but there was just way too much of it to work.

i watch i once, said it was good but not great.  tried to watch it a second time and had to skip thru almost the entire movie.  nothing about big mountain gets me stoked, pov shots piss me off, and dubstep? really? maybe one song, but the whole movie? joke.

editing looks like it was thrown together last minute, and they definitely might want to consider using a god damn tripod every once and a while!

oh... and hitting the same pillow lines multiple times? lamest thing ive ever seen put in a movie.

Why do you guys care so much about editing and music in a ski movie? Its a movie about SKIING filmed and edited by skiers, its not fucking avatar. I say if it has good skiing its a good ski movie.

WHAT?!?!! all i heard in that movie was techno whomping dubstep, which ya, got really old. I'd love to see the "rasta'd" segments you're talking about.

And no the movie isn't bad at all, it's just so. fucking. long! Take a few of the riders out of the picture, cut out some travel segments, and shit would be bangin. i can say that about every movie this year though.

Haven't seen the movie, and I'm a big glitch fan, but you people need to learn what dubstep is, because glitch ain't dubstep.

I fookin love big mtn so if it's more of that and less park/urban i'm psyched. If that POV shot of Julien's that won best single shot at if3 is anything to go on, that AK seggy must be banger.

I'm gonna put this plain and simple (from my eyes).

Don't get me wrong I love powder segs, but this didn't really bring it up to par like my feelings for Everyday is a Saturday or Reasons, PBP I love you, and maybe this movie was supposed to be mostly powder and BC, either way I'll give it a solid 7. Only a few minor adjustments I would have changed had I been in the director's chair.

not trying to hate on it but personally not my idea of a good ski movie. there was little urban if i remember right, just alot of wall rides, and a little too much pow. i thought eye trip was a lot better.

a couple songs were really good, every shot was filmed amazingly, and skied better, but the e.diting was awful. my friends who dont know anything about editing enjoyed it. also, there were about 267457 too many dubs. maybe if they took out most of the wackflips, the movie wouldnt be and hour and a half.

NAH!!!!! revolver was sick! Bene Mayar part (i think thats how the spelt his name) was unreal. Ya its got a lotta POW sences but there just focusing on a different side of skiing. Eye trip was better in my eyes cause it was more creative. dont get down ur gonna like it
