all the snow that the cottonwoods have been getting lately is making me wonder about going up this weekend to ski at brighton. do you guys know if they have any boxes or rails out that you can hike? and also, is it legal to go hike up and ski it right now?
don't really think anyone is trying to "discourage the masses" the stoke is up..no reason to bring it down..some solid rails in guardsmans right now with brighton being unhittable...go look where most cars are parked around 11 or noon and follow the foot steps..you'll find some shit for sure
It would be sick, they kinda did it last year, the weekend before they opened they had a bunch of little features out..and they played music and stuff..it was super fun.
they won't blow snow until the temps fall into the teens during the day...but if it keeps snowing maybe they won't have to blow.. 16" has fallen at mid mountain..more in higher areas apparently.. possibility of 20" more coming over the next few days. If it weren't heating back up into the 40's this coming weekend in the mountains, then I bet they would open..
that is exactly why they don't want to waste water. When they blow snow above teens it still makes snow but a lot of it is water. When they blow in colder temps they get a higher return on their investment.
yea they are building up snow in the parking lot to use as base snow right now, just think if the door in the dam wouldnt have broke they would have plenty of water to make snow with.
well the door/drain to the dam got stuck open when they were trying to relieve some tension on the damn. So they had wait till like all the water drained out to fix it they just barely fixed it i heard and the water has gone up about 17 feet or so, so they will be able to make some snow, they had like a sandbag barrier blocking some water for awhile. but they are pushing piles of snow onto the lower runs now to start a semi base today.
it sounds like it is ok to ride up there then. has there been a bunch of people up there? cuz i was just lookin to have some fun on a rail or box or somethin....and i suck ass at rails/boxes. true rookie. so i guess what im asking is is it crowded or not so much?
naw man i suck also, no judgement and if there is fuck them haha and october 12th that is quite the opening date there haha.oh yea and there might be a round rail or mailbox setup come up tomorrow man ill be up there most likely.
but at the moment it is snowing like an inch every minute up here right now (exageration) but really it is snowing pretty hard.
I sure as shit hope so. Last year they opened like the 3rd week of november which was pretty early. Brighton opening earlier than that would be a marvelous thing.
stuff boxes and rails you idiot!!!! its knee fricken deep pow right now i was up there last night and it dumbed all night! and i got to hit knee deep pow and get my 1st face shots of the season so grab those old pow skis and get out there
"We got some great snow out of this past storm. We're working hard to make snow and get the rest of the resort ready to open. Tentatively we are planning to open on Nov 11th or 12th. If we get some good snow-making days in and the storm this weekend produce's, we may open sooner"
I couldn't believe she took that car up the road. Later that night another white sedan got stuck in the ditch. Did anyone else see them and did they get out alright?
That lower session was pretty fun, at least until the landing got destroyed. Props to all those who were throwing down.
HIGH PRESSURE TO BUILD RAPIDLY EARLY NEXT WEEK AND REMAIN IN PLACEINTO NEXT WEEKEND...NO CHANGES HERE. AMPLIFIED AND QUITE WARMALOFT FOR NOVEMBER...VALLEY AREAS LIKELY TO BECOME INVERTED ANDSTAGNANT WHILE MOUNTAINS WILL WARM SIGNIFICANTLY. MOST ALL OF THERECENT MOUNTAIN SNOW SHOULD MELT OUTSIDE OF THE HIGH NORTH FACINGAREAS.
Heading up to Brighton tomorrow with my sister and a couple of her friends. Since its my first time hitting up brighton pre-season, Anyone know where some spots are?
well im not sure if they are using all of this for the ja but there was like 2 boxes one like 10ish feet and the other around 16, than a short flat rail, a small s rail, and a couple of wide boxes one a small battleship and the other is like a U shape. really its not to much but it should be fun. but the demon rail jam sounds sick i just live close to the brighton one so im going there.
no not really i think they wised up and decided not to waste what little water they have considering its going to warm up this week. Maybe next weekend that is a guess by me though.
THOUGH TIMING DIFFERS SOMEWHAT...BOTH THE GFS AND ECMWF INDICATE THAT THIS RIDGE SHIFTS EAST LATE IN THE WEEK...WITH ANOTHER TROUGH MOVING INTO THE GREAT BASIN SOMETIME NEXT WEEKEND.
