Do you think the war in Iraq is a good thing? Are you willing to die for it?

The more I think about it, the more it becomes evident. If George Bush is re-elected, there is probably going to be a draft.

There is no way in hell Bush would ever think of announcing a draft pre-election, or even slightly hinting at one. Members of congress had brought it up because it is probably the only way to make the situation in Iraq 'work' But the bush administration was quick to silence them are reasure everyone that no, there would be no draft. Bush knows announcing a draft would be pre-election political suicide. But after the election, well what are people gonna do? Nothing, we are shit out of luck.

Previously, the draft was a noble call to duty, to defend ones country. Parents and Grandparents were PROUD to see their sons off to WWII, even hanging stars in their windows to commemorate a family member killed in action.

The draft became less palatable during Vietnam, when much like todays conflict in Iraq, the motives were sketchy, and a realistic goal not in clear sight.

Ask your parents, or grand parents if they would be proud of you if you died in Iraq.

Consider this, of all the childeren of the members of Congress, only one is on active duty in Iraq. In essence they said hey lets go to war, but no, not with our kids.

Piece it together, the armed forces are already spread thin, the reservists can't continue on fighting the fight forever. Today it was announced that 3,600 troops that were stationed in the boader region between North and South Korea are being relocated to Iraq. As currently projected US forces are going to be needed on the ground in Iraq until AT LEAST 2006, that is if the conditions in Iraq remain stable, but the developments over the last month and a half seem to point at anything but stabalization.

Do you want to die in Iraq? Do your parents want you to die in Iraq? No? Then you should register to vote, and vote for Kerry.

That pretty much sums it up. Bush is a lying, corrupt person. Everyone knows that, even his supporters. The only reason he has supporters is for financial reasons, they will even admitt that, and that is so low. The Bush administration, while not the first, has reached new extremes on putting a price on human life. The mayor of London called President George W. Bush the 'Biggest threat to the planet earth today' Anyway, my point is, anyone who supports Bush basically is admitting that lying and needless killing is OK. BY SUPPORTING BUSH, you are supporting what is happening in Iraq. It is because of you people that the US is beginning its slow decent out of power. I'm not going to state a bunch of facts and quotes because that has been done before but I am going to do this. I am going to start compiling a list of users that support Bush on this site. Shame on you.

with bush in office it makes the us look like a joke, nobody likes us anymore. kerry is alittle extreme but if it gets bush out of office he has my vote. and by the way, 9/11 had nothing to do with bombing thousands of innocent civillians it makes me sick how america thinks. yes they cut one of our own people heads off, yet we bomb a fucking school buss loaded with innocent civillians and woops our bad. for someone who said well the un was looking for weapons of mass destruction etc. and iraq claimed they didn't have any well. Fuck you, you know why the u.s. has the most weapons of mass destruction out of anyone and they aren't prosecuted i wonder why?? perhaps because they have the biggest and best military on earth? so i say fuck the americans and their shinnagans they should try to be more like canadians and let the god damn iraq people live without them in their country.

I graduated from Willamette University in Salem, OR. It's a good school, i got a lot of money from them. Anyway, anewmorning, you seem to be a wealth of info. Seems like you may know more about this than I and you're right, argueing it is only for entertainments sake since it's out of our control. I won't pretend to be an expert on it, I'm just frustrated by what I see. Ironically, a friend of mine that just got back from Iraq came over to visit randomly last night.

i have heard of williamette... i think i drove past a sign for it on the way to hood a few summers ago... of maybe i am just thinking of the river.... i am pretty sure i have heard of it though.... there is like williamette and lewis and clark up there as far as smaller private schools go right? theyre legit as far as i have ever heard.

Kerry sucks ass but bush is alot worse! look at what he has done for our country! he got us into 2 wars, made tax cuts for the rich, made the patriot act, tried (im not sure if he succeded) to hide the patriot act so people could not read it, and lost 2 million jobs. what i dont get is how he is not impeached! his whole clan down in washington is lying about everything and costing peoples lives. and then clinton fricken lied about fucking someone and he almost got impeached. ^I have to maintain that that whole thing would have been better ignored, and the 200 FBI agents assigned to keep an eye on Bill's zipper would have been better employed in investigating reports (labelled urgent) of strange arab men in flight schools in Texas who didn't want to learn how to take off or land their plane. But Clinton's over and done with; like I said, no sense worrying about the past. We might as well argue about Kennedy's mistakes.

I was saying how you can look at the 700 some american soliders that died becuase of this war as a a terrorist attack. we are basicallt giving them terrorist attacks. i mean look at it! 3k people died from sept 11. granted that is alot but if you look at terrorist attacks in general, 700 people is alot! you you might say that in going to war in Iraq, we have given Iraq the biggest terrorist attack ever, other than sept 11!

Those people that bombed us, those people in Iraq, those 'insurgents' are not 'little fuckers'. THey're PEOPLE, many times intelligent people. You think they like blowing themselves up? They are fighting for something they believe is right, they are willing to throw away their lives for their country and religion.
