Any suggestions on what/how to convert avchd files so i can edit them in fcp and imovie?

direct import from cam to program. always works for me.

yea, but the files arent on the camera, they are on my external hard drive and i cant import avchd files in imovie and fcp

connect the two, save files to the mac harddrive then import in fcp
