Saturday will for sure be better than sunday. If they make snow all of tonight and tomorrow/tomorrow night I feel like they should be able to get top to bottom.  If they have enough snow off 19 hours of snowmaking why not 19 more for top to bottom

The only one to ever accomplish the feat was David Parks who got there in 1:40 according to Ben. But no, I'm guessing the fastest would be like 2:15

when you strap skis to your feet and go down a hill its skiing. mud, grass, snow. I go everyyear to and am yet to see it as a waste of time. Maybe not the best skiing but it sure as hell is skiing!

yep because everyone knows it takes 1:45 to get to sr from exeter, yea right you would have to be pushing 90 on 95 an then like 50-60 on all and every backroad.

Eh I beg to differ... we all have our own opinions... I just think there is a major difference between skiing on snow then skiing on grass, actually they're not even close to the same thing... I mean people can be stubborn and say skiing is skiing, but come on now, we all know thats not true, there is a clear distinction between skiing and pushing your weight through mud... there is just a point when you have to look at what your doing and realize that it isn't skiing and isn't worth it... not directing this to anyone in general, once again all my own opinion

I don't know how I feel about this statement. I'm happy because I love the East and I'm from there but unhappy because I live in California.

I'd say the best thing to reply is, suck it, I can ski Mammoth now and fuck yeah!

LOL FUNNY STORY! i was at the local ski show today, and sunday river had a booth, and i said to the girl there "so sunday river opened today" and she said in the most bitchy way possible, "NO, it may be open tomorow, but there was no snow today!" making me sound like a dumbass, WHAT A FUCKING BITCH!

I don't get all the hate. Who cares if its mud or not. If there was a lift serviced grass hill I would be there skiing in the grass on an old pair of skis. Just be happy about what is on your feet and not what is under your skis. Not everyone can get huge powder dumps every week all winter.

this seems like such a waste. $25 for a ticket to ski the peak to the midstation. then the advertising isnt there so they arent going to pull in anyone except the few who are constantly checking the site and the facebook fan page or twitter page. they are also only planning to be open for the weekend, as usual for their opening plans.

saying they are the first to open in north america is a lie because timberline is open.

i also dont see a resort as open until they are open for the season and dont have to shut down on weekdays because they obviously wont be able to hold snow or attract enough people at that time.

sorry sunday river, but as much as you say youre open, you arent.

Also, keep in mind Timberline opened 2 weeks ago for winter operations. So SR's "first to open in the country" argument is invalid.

to all the people that are saying suck it to the west coast, I am going to bump this thread when I am about to go outside and ski 2 feet of pow while youre skiing on ice.


none the less, thats sick that they are open. maybe abasin will hurry their asses up now and get open on sunday

guys just let the EC have a little glory alright.. if you form the west and never ski sunday river then are you in this thead? kudos are cool and all but you guys saying its going to be a ll mud and stupid at least we are going to skiinng today rather than sititng on NS bitching...

From the snow report and pictures on their facebook it looks like they have pretty damn good coverage.  They even groomed it! Average base depth is 16" too which isn't too bad

Sick... I wish i lived closer to sunday river.... im like 8-9 hours away. So sick for you but.. I probably got another month before Dagmar opens...( probably 100-200 feet elevation... 3 parks :)
