High Class Party

Me and my roomies are having a high class party.
We are going to wear suits and ties, listen to mozart, bach, and other classics, drink high class beer (aka glass bottle beer), champagne, and wine, have a nice assortment of cheese, and mingle.

What else should we do to make it a high class party?

dude you best be rolling in dough or this is going to hurt your wallet by the sounds of all of the other suggestions.

When we had classy parties in college we included the following:

1. Glass, no plastic and no cans of any sort.
2. Bar/bartender-no one wants to self serve and it just exudes class when you have someone shaking a martini or mixing a tasty G&T (my favorite cocktail by far)
3. Jazz above all else, smooth jazz of course.
4. Push all furniture in main rooms to the sides and a low for pleanty of mingle space.
5. STOCK STOCK STOCK THE BAR

me an my pals are starting a gentlemans club. Very similar to your idea. We meet every full moon too. Dis is a little bio on our club

"The Worthingtons Society was founded by Leonidas and Thaddeus Worthington in Savannah, South Carolina, circa 1869. But for real, small teasers are good and then follow up with a blowout at the end of the year when it's warm and chicks wear their skimpiest cocktail dresses, that just ruined the classy attitude about this thread but it's also an often over looked component

Name: call it a cocktail party, because thats what it is. that or a black tie affair, if you're going with full formal wear, but by the sound of it you aren't.. don't call it a high class party, because that ruins the idea before it starts, it just sounds shitty and classless.

Liquor: as mentioned previously a staffed bar is a must. make sure to have all the necessary styles of glasses to accompany the liquors you will be serving: low balls, high balls, snifters, flutes, and whatever wine glasses pair with the wines you are serving. have gin, whiskey, dry vermouth, club, limes, and ice in plenty supply, and other liquors and mixers as you can afford. make sure to have a tip jar out for the barstaff, especially if its open bar.

Keep the entire setting in black, with bits of white to accent, it makes things easy. if you decorate with any other colors make sure to note as such on the invitations, which will be touched on later.

Snacks: fish dishes are popular snacks, but you need proper refrigeration for those, so don't fuck around if you can't. make sure to have a nice selection of cheeses served at room temperature with water crackers and a few fruits as accompaniment.

Music: if you can afford to, book a quartet for the evening. if you're in school, just go to the music department, approach a quartet, and say wanna make some money?

Invitations: if you really want to ball hard, invitations are a must. send them out through a courier dressed nicely at least two weeks prior, preferably 3. make sure to include any themes and other pertinent information.

if you budget properly, you can have a baller ass party for 20ish people for under 500 dollars, not including your wardrobe.

to hell with high class, have a 40's military officer party. everyone is dressed up, it's less formal, big band music, you can drink some beers, it's great. Admittedly, a bit expensive because dress uniforms are a bit difficult to find, but it was well worth it.
