have any of you guys thought about joining up? any branch... i can say that its been something that been lingering in my mind for the last few months...
i highly respect anyone who has the balls to go into the armed forces and i admire those who do...for a while i was thinking about going into the forces...as an officer though, like through either army rotc or navy rotc...highly advise anyone considering joining to go into a rotc program to come out as an officer rather than an enlisted man
I've been thinking about going into the coast guard reserves, that way I can sit in my boring cubicle, and still feel like i'm halfway doing something with my life one weekend a month. Like everyone is saying, its a big decision, and that two weeks a year and one weekend a month I can't ski, ride, be with family...I don't know.
damn dude sounds like you're totally ready to kick some ass for america. if you're going to complain about one weekend a month i wouldn't even consider that military. try spending a year in afghanistan.
I signed my contract for the Army in June and I'm leaving for basic in a week. I did a year of college and realized it wasn't for me and the Army is something I've wanted to do since I was little.
Just going to throw this out there but my uncle was career in the army and did airborne and rangers and lots of neat stuff but i think he maxed out as a master sergeant, partially because he never went to college. He had over 900 jumps and his back is now shot and he has to go to walter reed every few months to get discs heated up and I think he already has had fusion surgery. His knees are pretty beat too.
A guy I met riding last winter got back from iraq recently and has to wear a knee brace to snowboard because his knee is shot from jumping down off trucks with armor and a machine gun and being cramped in a humvee turret for 20 hour shifts. he calls all the time and can't even get a appointment for a doctor to look at it. they are busy taking care of the vietnam vets now and my other uncle who did 3 tours in vietnam is currently fighting to get medical assistance.
dope Ill be there too, I where a Pat tillman jersey to every game and im mad tall. If u see me call me out. I had airborne and in my contract to but I backed out to go the rotc route
If I do enlist it will be for 20 years plus. Sorry for me weighing my options before signing on the dotted line. I've also interviewed for Border patrol, customs etc...Thanks for your service, your appreciated...you however don't know me so please dont talk smack. I have plenty of friends both in the military and veterans, again your appreciated but your no god compared to them.
I thought about Navy to try and go to SEAL school or enter the Marines to try and go to Recon school and be either a SEAL or Recon member. But I am too much of a fatass to join.
regardless of his show bear grylls is a lot more bad ass than les strout, bear was in the fucking SAS and has climbed everest. les just survives in the woods and plays his guitar
