Just got the Salomon Z12's...

And i was wondering if I made a bad choice. I went to my local shop and i have the Armada Ar7's and i was looking for new bindings and the guy at the shop said that the 2 that i should look at were the Marker Griffons (which are more expensive and ive had some troubles with in the past) or the Z12's and I chose the Z12's because he said they were more durable and they were also cheaper in price. I am 220 pounds and Intermediate/Advanced skier. And i do mostly park/all mountain. I have the Salomon Kaos boots if that makes a difference or not.

At 220 pounds (I'm assuming you're fairly tall as well), you might have some problems with these, especially in soft snow, you really need something more than a 12 DIN binding, which is probably why the Griffons gave you some problems too - they're also a 12 DIN (not saying you need to ride at a high DIN, you just need a binding that can handle more pressure and abuse).

Could you ride them...yeah, but they'll probably be annoying at times too.

Yea im 6'2 so i guess kind of tall. What do you mean when you say they will get annoying? like will they break or what?

cracked base plates and pre-release issues. i'm 185 lbs and got rid of mine when i had them two years ago.
I haven't had any trouble with my griffons though (besides pulling them off on mute grabs, but now i just do critical grabs instead), so maybe we just put different stresses on our bindings. i also ski east coast and a lot of park.

AR7s are a sick choice too, that must be a really light setup..those are like the lightest bindings you can buy.

Pre-release, brake issues, too much pressure on the toe wings, and even cracks in the plates and the toe piece. I really wouldn't recommend them for you, honestly (in fact, I don't like the Z12 at all).

What binding would you recommend if i can change them? cause the shop prolly hasnt put em on yet and i can prolly get them back and try and get different ones

Umm...there are tons of options, but at your height, weight, and skier type (I don't know you're BSL, but I think that shouldn't be too much of a big deal for this one - I'm also assuming it's pretty high) I'd say you need a 14 or 15 DIN binding, so something like an STH 14 (Driver toe is preferred), or a Tyrolia Peak 15, something along those lines would work for you better than the Z12.

I went in today and they didnt have the 14 Drivers but they had the reg 14's so i switched it to that.

That is a better choice.  But the 14 Drivers would've been a much better choice still.

Yea they didnt order any at all so I couldnt get them there so. I had to go with the Regular ones

ive had a lot of trouble with these bindings, the base plate always seems to pop out and everytime i have to take my ski off and pop it back in.. and the brake has broken twice

Are you talking about the STHs or the Z12s? Cause I haven't had any problems with my STH 14s, and the ones I'm riding right now aren't driver toes, and I normally like to ride the STH 16 Drivers.
