Backcountry hikes in New England

Hello all:

Wondering if anybody knows of any good mountains in New England (Berkshires, VT, NH) for hiking and skiing during the winter. I do Tucks in the Spring, but interested in finding some similar experiences for the November - March season. Any good spots?

I'm curious too. I know you can hike Mansfield, but I'd like to be able to hike something closer to S VT.

You could try searching http://www.nelsap.org/ for closed mtns that may have some more open terrain.

Drive Rt 100. There are thousands of opportunities on that road to get some back country. Its the original skiers highway.

this man speaks the truth. mt greylock in MA has some options as its the highest peak in the state. there's a small following that hikes in regularly

Big jay. Camels hump. Lots and lots in VT. There are a number of books on this very subject, I would suggest picking one up as the information of of NS is going to be insufficient and generally garbage.

yeah we have a tradition of hiking camels hump and mad river rocketing it (sledding) and there's always ski tracks, but i've never skied it myself

theres this weird thing on mt. greylock in mass called the thunderbolt trail

ive never done it but it seems pretty interesting

I've heard that there are some great jems off the kankamankus highway in NH. And i know that was spelled completely wrong.

I was going to make a thread on this. I plan on doing a lot of BC in northern VT/NH this year and was thinking we should get a few nsers together and do camels hump, big jay, hourglass, shit like that.

Theres also alot of potential for some real burly lines on Rt 103 in the proctersville gulf. Probably only a couple days a year when its doable but its there.

there is a trail/ trails? down the back of bolton resort from the top of the quad at the main area. just hike up to the wooden lookout platform and then ski down the back from there. comes out somewhere in waterbury

Any of you further out into the country than myself reporting any snow on some of these places? I'm definitely trying to ski this weekend but I don't really want to pay for skiing or session 8 mini features with 600 other people. I'm more looking to hike to the snow and set something more worthwhile up. any leads?
