those guys pushed the sport so hard. lars had such a sick style and marc was stomping 540 off cliffs even before people started doing 180s.

just don t forget them.

and for the younger audience here : both of these skiers had bakc injury and are now paralized :(

This is one of the best thread I've seen on here in a while.

I had heard of Lars before, but I had no idea that he killed it that hard or that he was paralyzed. From the looks of his tricks and the time period, he was right there with the big dogs 6-7 years ago.

As for Marc, he is the fucking man. As you said, he was stomping massive 5's and shredding lines before anyone was really riding super fat or rockered planks. He is an OG for sure. I can only imagine the stuff he'd be doing now if he wasn't injured.

And here he is skiing pow better on a sit ski than most of us could hope to with two fully functioning legs:

I've never seen a sit ski cliff drop or though that was even possible. So sick. He should get some pow skis and cut them up for the bottom ski and the two and ones.

so whatever happened to lars? last time i heard he landed on his back, some other nasty details, ended up paralyzed but was recovering some movement.

at freshtival,when Marc came on the screen just shredding that pow line. That's gotta be one of the loudest I have ever heard that theatre cheer. one of those moments that gives you chills.

I may be wrong on this because the last I heard was a year or so ago, Lars was still in a chair, but had regained some movement (not sure how much) in his feet. He's halfway through a law degree and that is about all I know.

hm, yeah i was under the impression that he was en-route to a full recovery.. and that was a couple years ago.

Guess we would have seen him if he was back!

This needs a bump. The Lars Veen segment was the one that first really got me into freeskiing. People should watch/recognize them.

Marc was definitely a huge pioneer in landing switch in the backcountry and very rarely gets any recognition for it. So much respect and props are due. Such silky style.

Marc Andre got washed off a nasty cliff in the bc. Lars was on a park jump, mammoth I think.

I was really hoping to see Marc Andre and Josh Dueck produce a mind blowing sit ski pow vid.

Marc Andre was truly an innovator in our sport, especially when it came to BC jumping, he was WAY ahead of his time. He's definitely an unsung hero of the sport, not just for his ski skills, but for his positive attitude and perseverance as well.

Remember when Marc got his first profile in Freeskier (or was it Freeze?) with a pic of him wearing an "FIS sucks" wifebeater? There was also a sequence of him doing an underflippy 7.
