This pretty much sums it up, except you wont learn too much how a camera works.
HDSLRs are basic cameras when it comes to shooting video. They are good for beginners to get used to color correction and learn about aperture and shutter speed.
Unfortunately HDSLRs are not good for audio (no XLR inputs and you cant adjust audio levels on the t2i) and they are not really adjustable.
Seems like you are looking to take photos too, so yeah I would suggest a t2i.
Like he said, go pros are really only good for specific things and the t2i is more flexible.
If you are looking to get into filming and not as much photography then I wouldnt recommend getting a hdslr.
