Ski companies that went above and beyond for you personally

I figured I would try this out because I don't think it's been done before. Lately I've been reading about what seems to be ski companies really caring about their customers.

Post your experiences of when ski companies went above and beyond for you. Maybe they didn't only refund your skis, but they gave you next year's skis in exchange.

I'll start with my experiences with no intent to brag, just to state. I will admit I've been pretty lucky, and I wouldn't go around e-mailing companies just to go get free stuff, or expecting stuff because of what I did or what happened to me.



---Recently Bluehouse Skis tried to ship me a fitted hat and there was an error in the mail. When I e-mailed them, they shipped another one 2-day, with a free t-shirt and mad nice stickers, no questions asked.

---Freeskier Magazine once sent me Skullcandy G.I.'s, along with other small things and stickers, for letting them know how much I like the magazine.

---EC Headwear once had a shipping problem with me, and it was resolved immediately, along with receiving tons of great extras in addition to what I ordered.

---Ninthward Skis sent me a free jacket and tons of stickers and a few movies for ordering their skis straight from them once.

---Powder Magazine once sent me a ton of posters because I told them I was going to college, which I really was.

---When Moment Skis was brand new I let them know what I thought of the company and received a t-shirt.

So I bought a pair of Hestra glove at a ski sale for a really good deal. I got home brought the gloves inside and found out the next morning that my dad threw them away because he thought they were trash.... We talked to Hestra and told them what happened and they sold us another pair of gloves for the same sale price which would have been impossible to get any way else.

my old watch lifes broke and i got them from surface as demo skis, used once or twice before i got them, i emailed surface sold me a brand new pair for a 100$ then the shipping got messed up on thous so they sent me polls and a t-shirt with the skis,

- Lethal Descent gave me a nice discount on my outerwear, which was nice because I was a junior in high school and I would have been spending my life savings at the time.

- I had a few little topsheet chips on one of my my Boone Skis from one of the UPS guys dropping the package from the top of the truck. I sent them pics and asked if I might be able to get a single ski for half price or something. I decided I didn't need it because I was going to go skiing the next week and I wanted those but Boone offered to send the ski for free with no shipping charges. Had a long conversation with the CEO on the phone and that's how I started really getting into the company and boutique brands in general.

- Got a couple free tees shirt from D-structure (San Fran) and Evo, both really dope shops

Most ski companies are super cool and will send you swag if you write a really well articulated email or letter. They'll probably respond back and have you in their memories as a great potential customer, which means you get better service when you actually buy. Funny how things work that way.

unnecessary comment.

Surface skis and & Causwell outerwear.
So many times have they come through for the utah scene.
I've never seeen companies so down for the skier or the cause.

this one time i bought these surface nine lifes then i went and skied them and the edges broke in like twenty places and i bitched to surface and they are hosting this huge party for me even though i still dont have new skis........

I have several here's and theres, but my most impressive experience was with Scott and Rowen last year.

I sold my JJ's over the summer to get ON3P Billy Goats, so all I had for the year were my Pipecleaners....which I broke before Christmas...when I was planning to propose to my girlfriend on a week long ski trip.  I asked Scott when my Billy Goats might be done, hoping they might get to me before I left in a week with no skis.  Without even asking he finished the skis that day and payed some ungodly Fedex fee to overnight them to my house.  We enjoyed an awesome trip with lots of new snow, I wouldn't have been able to afford to rent something with all the money I put into the plans for the proposal.  I will never buy a ski from anyone other than ON3P for as long as I'm skiing simply because of what they did for me last year.

not a ski company, but Skullcandy. I really don't like their products anymore, but they have AMAZING customer service. I bought a pair of Skullcrushers, which were fucking amazing for about a month. then the bass stopped working. so i returned them to SC and they sent me another pair. Another month went by and bam, the bass died again. so I asked them if they could send me just a pair of the GIs instead because they were about the same price at the time. they said that was fine. a week later I got another set of skullcrushers, and when I told SC and asked if I could send them back unopened to get the GIs instead, they told me to keep the Crushers and said they'd send me some GIs too. A week went by and I got an email from them asking me for my address so they could ship the headphones, and the GIs showed up a couple days later. Then after another week, a 2nd free pair of GIs showed up. I called them and asked about it, and they had screwed up and not realized they had already sent me a pair. they were just like, "oops we shouldn't have sent the 2nd pair, but it's cool." so I did.

tl;dr I had a defective pair of skullcrushers and skullcandy wound up giving me 2 more pairs of free skiullcrushers and 2 free pairs of GIs

Sent some skis to armada to get covered due to them getting rockered throughtout the season(t-halls). they said they would not cover them due to rail damage which is fine, but offered to hook me up with a proform discount on anyski.didnt have cash at the time so I turned it down due to college cash flow. They sent my skis back and when I opened the package I saw my skis along with some demo pipe cleaners. I was wicked pumped to say the least.

Causwell and Surface. All the dudes over there at surface and causwell are super down to earth and chill. They also threw in a free pair of surface poles when I got my doubletimes. Overall just 2 great companies.

Not me personally but of all the weeks at Windells, i would say Surface/skull candy week killed it with all the free swag (shirts, headphones, chains, oh and a free DELTRON concert) along with tons of opportunities for campers to do activities like spin records and to contests.  I would say Traveling Circus week came in a close 2nd to. 

When the first year invaders came out in like 05 or 06 and they were having the delam problems Line hooked me up fat with a brand new pair of lizzies in return for the warrantied invaders.  I still use lizzies today as well.

Newschoolers-I ordered the long sleeve NS tall tee that was in the store a while ago. When it got to my house there were stickers and a NS bandana in the package. I know stickers are regular but I didn't expect the bandana at all. My order wasn't late or anything, they just included it because they felt like it I guess, so thanks to all the guys and gals behind the NS store!!

Not exactly a ski company but the windells counselors, this guy right here to be more specifically. P-texed my skis for me after I took out a huge chunck of my base on the dry slope, he did it on his own time and when I offered a few bucks he insisted that instead of cash I just did something nice for somebody else that week. Windells definately was a sick camp with a solid staff and this guy was easily one of the sickest counselors that probably was one of the coolest people I met out there.

This is why the ski industry is so awesome. Loving these stories.

First situation was with Jiberish. A tee that I bought ended up getting lost in the mail, so after a month of it not coming I ended up getting dibs on a free replacement new era before they were released, and it got shipped super quick.

Second, Saga. They liked what I posted about them on here and out of the blue just sent me a tee shirt in appreciation.

Most of mine has been through warranty, but hey support the companies that support you so I am gonna shout out to the following...
-Volkl- Warrantied 3 pairs of 1st gen. Walls for me. I called it quits finally and gave the last new skis to my Dad. He loves them. Still rockin solid

-Smith- Has never denied a single warranty for me. Several goggles, sunglasses and helmets have been renewed. I find that Smith has the absolute best warranty program in the business. They Rule!!!

-K2- Warrantied an older pair of skis that were past their warranty. Sent me the next years model that was not even out yet.

-Salomon- Had a pair of liners fail on the old 1080 Foil boot (white/blue). They sent me brand new boots. Two years later model and not just the liners.

Working at a ski shop helps, but through all of the warranties I have done, these are some of the best companies to deal with.

My bad, obviously can't type on a iPhone. Anyways..shipping info got messed up at causwell. It really wasn't a big issue to me but he threw in 2 shirts with my sweatshirt. Also everytime I stopped in there after that incident they knewy name and offered me free hats and what not, just because they felt bad. Very dope company!

ON3P has great customer service and i got a pair of last years jeronimos that they had left over cheap. I asked them to toss in some stickers and a week later BAM, there they were.

I have a couple:

1) Joystick. I purchased a set of poles from a sponsored rider. They broke two days into using them. I e-mailed Joystick to see if they would give me another one. Turns out the pair I purchased was a sample and never went into production. I was bummed. However, that turned to stoke when I got a brand new set of the next year's carbons in the mail from them. Sickness. Made me a loyal customer. I will try to buy from them in the future.

2) Armada Reps. Never had to return something, but have dealt with a couple of their reps and wanted to give a shout out. Travis and Riley = hooked it up. Seems like Armada runs a good company

3) Line / Derek Pappas (rep) - Just totally hooked me up with a sick pair of this year's custom p100s. For less than retail. I have purchased numerous things from him in the past as well and he was always on time and had good communication. If you need any questions answered about Orage or Line gear, he's your man (eastvailhucker).

Moment: I had some reno rockers pull out on day one and then pull out again this time heli-coils. Sent them in to Moment for warranty and it turned in that the shop had ballsed it up with both mounts, but Moment gave me a new set of rockers and pre-drilled them for my bindings despite the fact that the problem had nothing to do with them.

This isnt ski related at all, but when i bought Logic express from apple, i got it next day air, and FedEx fucked it up and i didnt get it until the next day, apple refunded me everything but shipping on a $200 program, and I didnt even ask them to. It was sick. Best customer service I've ever received. Sorry for the pretty off topic post.

my head skis were really cheap when i bought them new, and they've lasted 4x longer than my next longest lasting pair of skis, and i still ride them

pretty sure that is the best thing a company can do for a skier

k2 warrantied my skis and it was clear that there was no need to warranty them. A clear rail damage. Plus I had many questions about all that, and schimes answered all of them very nicely. Thanks k2 and schimes!

i had some delamination(sp?) on my liberty hazmats, i asked liberty about them, they warrientied them and sent me next years morphics instead. when the morphics got here they were to short, so i mailed them back in and got 181's instead, free of charge!!

Last year I order a hat from level 1. I payed the extra 2 bucks to get the express shipping. I waited to weeks and it still hadn't come. So I sent them an email. Next thing you know I got another hat, a letter from Josh Burnam and 2 dollars for next time I buy something.

i ordered a pair of spicollis from joystick, and after a month they still hadnt come, so i emailed them. i got an email back personally from anthony b saying sorry about that because they were moving their stuff from bc to utah. they came within 5 days along with a pair of gloves and a shirt. because of that i will only buy joystick poles from now on

Salomon/ evogear.com
I had last years threats and i used them for a season. I started using a summer set up and i noticed that the base was starting to peal away and the edge started popping out. I talked to evo and they contacted salomon. My skis were over the warranty but because it happened during last season, they would check it out. I sent my skis to them and they ended up sending me this years version of the skis. They were awesome!

Summit Ski

Bought a pair of K2 Obsethed from Summit Ski in Whistler. Right after picking them up, the little metal emblem in the tip fell out. Took them back, and they replaced the Obethed with a new pair, only giving us Marker Girffon's instead of the cheap Rossi bindings we put on.

get boards, tammy.- last year i ordered i pair of skis of the website and they were mounted crooked and got a new pair, but then this summer i broke the brake and i was asking for free shipping and tammy said she remember me from a year ago and gave me one of her extra ski brakes lying around.

They couldn't do enough to help me when I enquired about their gear. They even offered to split the cost of shipping to the UK, and I had a 12 e-mail long thread about construction, etc. Very knowledgeable, very helpful. They get the Nicky P seal of approval

When i bought my fist pair of bluehouse skis they didn't have shipping into canada set up so i called them and they set it up so that they could ship them up here at no extra cost. Every time i've had any questions they've always been awesome for customer service.

Bought a crew from Level 1 last year. Decided to send it to my ski place in the states when Im from Canada to save on duty and shipping charges. Turns out USPS wont deliver to my place and my package was lost. I talked to level 1 and they said that it technically wasnt their problem but they would do everything in their power to get it to me or get me different level 1 product to make up for it. I exchanged many emails with Josh, even on Christmas Day! Fortunately it was found and Level 1 sent it to me again free of charge.

dynastar hooked me up. The track on my bindings completely bent and was un-fixable and when i brought it back to the shop and we called them they told me that theyve never seen a binding break that way and that it would take the foce of a car running over it to do that much damage...but they believed my story(which was the truth) and they shipped me the part for free

i was saving up over the summer for some ON3P Caylors and i was a few days late getting paid (trypical contractors). i missed the presale by a few days. when i went to buy them, the price hadnt changed yet and i got them for the cheaper price, with a topsheet change
