noob ipod question

so i'm getting an ipod tomorrow from a friend (yes, it works...), but i don't have firewire or usb 2.0, so i have regular (read: shitty) usb 1.1 - my question is, will it work with usb 1.1 (and, yes, i know it'll be slow as all fuck, but it's better than nothing until i get a firewire card.

The user guide for my ipod says it works with usb 1.1

just use usb 1. it takes a while and you will run out of battery but i just transfer till it runs out, charge it then transfer again. You only have to do this the first time coz the other time not much music will b transfered.

gotta love the firewire - i was reformatting my sisters ibook earlier and instead of burning 15 cds i just plugged in the ipod, dragged 15 gigs onto it and in under 5 min and i was done backing up.

k, got it working on the usb, so next question - how do i cnahe the name of the ipod? since it was my friends it has 'sam's ipod' everytime i plug it into itunes, and i'm not diggin on that since my name ain't sam...
