Last week, as a follow up to "5 Reason to Snowboard, not Ski" Fuel TV posted "5 Reasons to Ski, not Snowboard."  This was actually pretty unthinkable about two years ago.  I think it got reprinted from somewhere.  Overall, I think the debate is stupid, but I guess you got their attention.... again.

1. Splitboards: Really? I mean we can almost just stop here...you turned your snowboard into skies so you can take advantage of all of the benefits of skiing in the backcountry, and yet you still call yourself a snowboarder.

2. Poles: You don't understand what they are for until you're in a flat area on the mountain and you're hopping around like some kind of idiot , one-footed jackrabbit. Next, you are begging us for one of our poles to help you along or you expect a slingshot. Poles are for balance and planting turns. Maybe you if you had a pole or two you'd stop dragging your knuckles around the mountain. Ever had your ass kicked with a pole...have you punk?

3. Amplitude & Speed: Snowboarders may have pushed the development of terrain parks and halfpipes at ski resorts, but we've taken riding them to new heights. If snowboarders could get more than 10 feet out of the pipe, they'd know that the air is a little thinner up here in the skier amplitude zone. You control terrain park design so we get flat crappy jumps with ramp-like takeoffs. How about putting a lip on that jump so we can actually pull our tricks? We'd ride with snowboarders more often, but you can't keep up with us...not by a long shot. There's nothing like laying out some high-speed ski turns on fresh groomers and it's just not the same on a snowboard, no matter what you say.

4. Alta & Deer Valley: Regardless of how much you hate on skier-only mountains -- Alta, Deer Valley and Mad Rive Glenn -- all three are amazing. No matter how much you bitch and complain about it, you aren't welcome at them. We have our skiing sanctuaries...get over it. When we ski at them, we don't have to put up with you side-slipping all the fresh powder off the mountain, piling up all over our traverse lines or amassing around the tops of our lifts, as you strap in, like a bad traffic jam. Step-ins were the best thing you all ever invented and you're too cool to realize it.

5. The Cool Factor: There's no doubt that snowboarding has made snowsports cooler and that it helped get young people on the snow again. However, since freestyle skiing came along, we have re-energized our own sport and reminded you of what is was like when snowboarding first started. We've out cooled the founders of terrain parks and freestyle riding. We are amped on our sport and we are setting the trends while you are falling behind. You may have helped make us, but now we are out performing you on every level...end of story.

Ehhh, I would have preferred taking the high road and not having that done. Neither the snowboarding or the skiing article should have made its way onto fuel.  I choose to respect everyone, no matter what they are riding.  This just makes us look childish and hypocritical.

The fact that anybody even digs this sort of shit out anymore only evidences the fact that most snowsports media outlets can't find anything new to say or write about.

I lend a pole or wait for my boarder friends on traverses, they help me dig out a ski when I lose one. This is the case for everyone but the .001% of both sports that think a cross town rivalry serves some purpose on snow.

yeah, i always give away my poles and skate on flat parts :) or push my friends forward in the liftline so they don't necessarily need to unbuckle :)

5 Reasons to snowboard, not ski.

1. Riding Powder: No matter how wide and fat you make those skis, they aren't snowboards. You just can't get that floating feeling or rip the same layback slash as you can on a snowboard. Carving through powder is one of the best feelings on earth and it's just not the same on skis no matter what you say.

2. Racks & Wishbones: Whether we have balls or a clam, our private parts thank us for not skiing. You can't do the splits on a snowboard so there's no taking a rail or tree branch to crotch or getting wishboned. We will all have children if we want to...some of you may not after your sack smacks that hard pack. Maybe you all should wear protective cups?

3. Yard Sales: What are those damn poles for anyway? Most of you just drag them around. Why do your skies come off? That old snowboard leash law should really apply to your fruit sleds. There's nothing funnier than watching a skier dig around in four feet of powder trying to find jettisoned skis. Tie a red streamer around all those pieces, you pinheads.

4. Segregation: We don't have to ride with snobby pricks who would even want to "ski" at Alta or the other two remaining ski-only resorts in the nation, Dear Valley and Mad River Glenn. We used to think you'd eventually end your segregation practices but now we could really care less and if you do...we should boycott you.

5. The Cool Factor: We're still cooler than you. You learned how to be cool from us and even though Freeskiers are quite cool now, you aren't as cool as us even if you do go bigger in the pipe. The fact is, your style came from us. We rule you. End of story!

WHAT! Monoskiers are so badass, all of them are already nasty skiers but want to try something harder. I saw a mono freeskier and he was slaying like backside 450 out, 720s on jumps, backflips it was so sick to see.

1reason.. I will never drop a knee to take a face shot.

fix the heel fix the problem .. i yell that at every telemarker i see. inb4 tele is harder then alpine. when your springs are tighter then a nun it does not matter. and yes i can tele and i do not enjoy it very much! id rather skin up and lock my heel down and carve it the fuck up!
