Saying unfounded acts that you supposedly did is a tool that school administrators do to make you admit to stuff that you probably didn't do but they try to confuse you so it make you sound like you did. These people are evil...

If it's the school's puplication, if they are paying for and distributing it, then they do have a right to punnish you for doing that. Maybe not that extreme. If its not a school publication, but distributed at school they don't have any jurisdiction.

You can't play the ' First Ammendment' because your right to free speech ends where your principle's right against libel begins. Printing him saying ' I don't give a fuck' was prety stupid, but you definitely shouldn't be expelled for it. Free speech is a complicated issue. Free speech means your right to disagree with a government, its leaders, and anyone else. However, if you take it to a personal level, thats where free speech ends and blatant insult begin. Especially in a school setting, its a bad combination.

Anyways, good luck with everything. Just remember to apoologize a million times...it might kill you, but it will also let you get your diploma. If you're a senior, you'll love college! You can do all sorts of things like this there!! Try to stay away from school officials though!

Don't even bother about thinking about taking the school to court. That's really a huge waste of your time. The only thing you would be fighting for is an upheld right to say things like that, and you won't get it. You're certainly won't get money or anything and just end up having to pay huuuge laywer bills...so just let it be.

ACtually people opposing schools in this situation have won numberous times! check out my link on my sig 'know your rights' there was even a case there they went to court over a censored t-shirt and the opposition won. I I suggest you attempt to word your appologies to the principal so that you're not admitting to anything you didn't do. Instead of saying 'I'm sorry for publishing the picture' say something like 'I appologise for my affiliations with the picture of you. I realise how offensive the picture is, but at this point, all I can do is admit I made a mistake and hope that you can forgive me.' The key is to be sincere and genuine. Don't push it though. If they call you on it and say you're beating around the bush, then fuckin' say 'I did it, sorry' and take your diploma and run.

Props for your contribution to the underground newspaper. This October me and my buddy produced an underground letter basically attacking our school and the administration. We made about 400 copies and put them in about 3/4 of the lockers in our school after my football practice. The next morning when I got too school EVERYONE had one and was talking about it. Apparently they found us by getting all the English teachers together and asked them, 'Who writes like this?' The thing is, me and my buddy knew we would get caught, we basically did everything but put our names on it. The administration was not very happy, to say the least. They took their time and played it cool, but as soon as lunch was over they hauled us out of class, yelled at us, phoned our parents and suspended us. The thing is every single student thought what we said was true. We got mad respect, and even some of the teachers thought it was good, even if they couldn't say it out loud. (We heard from sources)But the bottom line is that you should keep on truckin. Our paper got so much accomplished. The principle said it wouldn't accomplish anything but they changed a lot a we said anyways (Later on). The other funny thing is: My buddy lost his Math 12 book at the beginning of the year, so at the end of our thing we put, 'If you stole a math book, we're coming for you next.' and the morning everbody got it, my buddy's math teacher walks up to him with his book and says, 'Looking for this?' But good luck with your fight and hopefully things work out.

Our school administration sucks so bad...I just decided to stop going to that school, and get something out of it by doing running start full time. I guess this school year everyone was so disipointed with the school(at least the seniors and some junior) that they all walked out during the fight song(the administration will yell at you if you don't stand up for it). It's just an example of how our class has delt with the terrible handling of the kids time.

Good luck to you guys that wrote the papers and props for taking the time to speak out on your school. That would be great if all schools had papers like yours.

here is my article. this probably would have been ok in the legit school new paper. it is alittle confusing but it was all I had at the time of printing so... The issue was about the affects of columbine (and peoples fealings about it) like i said, there was no threats in the paper of any sort! I had planned to writing more controversial articles but I haven't yet:


Guns; they seem to be the theme of our issue! Well here is my rant to all the over-protective soccer moms out there about guns. Let me just say that I am a non-violent gun lover. Fake gun lover, that is. I love violent video games, violent movies, and shooting my friends with my toy airsoft gun that shoots plastic pellits. I love all this and at the same time, I am one of the most anti gun (real gun) people you will meet. It is my belief that if brought up corectly, a child (or anyone) can turn out just like me in this matter. I see all my love twards fictisous violence and toy guns, as a way to let out all that teenage anger. Now if I had no guidance as a child and still had this love, I wouldn't blame anyone if they were worried about me. No matter what the parents actual policies are, the child is sure to turn out better if the parent is envolved with their child's life, rather then un-envolved (or encouraging the wrong things, but that is a whole more complicated issue...). Ya sure, I know that plenty of people have had no interaction from their parents as a child and they came out fine, but if the parents want to be sure about it, they should be envolved with their childs live to an extent. I am not saying that parents need to put more restrictions or rules on their child at all. Infact, one might argue that I am saying just the oppsite.
If a kid is playing airsoft with their frineds (for example), parents shouldn't take the airsoft gun away from the child. The parent should first tell them that it looks really fun (or somthing to that extent), but then the parent should make sure to tell them that real guns should be left alone. (I realise that depending on how old the child is, this last step may not be needed, but the parent should still say somthing to acnolege their childs actions and activities. I am also just going to come out and say that anyone younger than atleast twelve should not be playing 'M' rated games...). It is prutty clear to me that the parential situation of the kids that carried out columbine was total un-envolvment and no rules in general. This is definatly bad for the child's mentality when it comes to guns (and many other things).
Another bad situation is not much envolvement from the parent, and parential policies that are totally anti violence/anti toy gun. (when I say violence, I mean violent movies or video games) This is bad because one day the child may 'snap!' and then we have another columbine-esq situation on our hands (or the child will simply be stressed out and tense unless they find another way to vent). Like I said the best combination is envolvement of the parent, yet not too many restrictions. The other bad situation is encourgment of the use of real guns by the child. This is bad for obvous reasons and I don't feel the need to explain further.
I think that it is better that I have my fun with fake guns rather then no guns at all. I have used my airsoft pistol many times and It is clearly different from a real killing machine. first, it does not envolve any sort of explosion, (it is meirly a spring that makes it shoot). Second, it fires plastic bbs that hurt when someone gets hit but cause any phsical harm (more powerful airsoft guns may cause phsical harm but they can't impair anyone in any way as long as eye protection is worn). Third, when I go off to 'have an airsoft war' I am not trying to kill anyone, I am having some fun with my friends. Killing people in real live (especially my friends) is not fun. It is important to note that this is aplicable in video games and movies too. It is important that the child (or whoever) understands all this especially the my third point, and as long as they do, I see no harm in having a little fun.`

ok, so here's my take on the whole thing... i know that schools blow... mine did for shure. but the truth of the matter is, they are supposed to be a safe place where kids of all types go for a single purpose, to learn. for that reason, they do set rules like what you can and can't say or do on their property. i'm not saying i agree with them. as far as going to court, i wouldn't reccomend it. the government is def. going to take the school's side on this one because thats just how it goes, but honestly, what would you get out of it? proving them wrong? i know i don't have the time myself to go through that whole process just to say i told you so, but that's just me. if you decide to go to court, more power to you. keep in mind, if you do take them to court, and you're not graduating this year, the staff is going to go out of their way to catch your every mistake. personally, i'd just deal with the punishment and get it over with. but to each his own..
