Skiing without brakes

are you allowed on a mountain without brakes? cause i cant get my brakes fixed for another month but my friend wants me to go skiing with him in a few weeks

dont do it. i thought it was fine till my ski popped off and went flying down the hill and hit a chick. she was pissed to say the least to take a ski to the shin

It's the worst when your breaks don't pop back up. It is the most inconvenient, embarrassing and quite possibly the worst time of your life when your ski falls and keeps going.

Like stated, shops carry brakes, they usually come at a decent price.

i had to do this for most of last year while i got the money to buy new bindings.

it was wierd having that extra space between my boots and binding. I ended up stuffing tissues and other things inbetween to keep it from wiggling around.

if you decide to do this be prepared to race after your ski if it happens to come off...

Honestly dude, doing so would be pretty ignorant regarding the safety of other riders. A ski without brakes gets going very fast and you don't want a murder charge on your head do you? Don't take the gamble, man. I advise against it and actually request that you don't.

fucking crazy idea. i've watched so many kids just totally bail out on jumps, ski pops off, brakes are frozen...bye bye ski.

See #6. Yes something is required. It doesn't have to be brakes but they make the most sense for skis. You can generally get away without having them because nobody checks these things but you will be responsible if anything happens.

i once had the honor of having to pull a snowboard out of a tree after it flew down a whole run, it was lodged almost 10inch deep into an old fallen tree, took 2 ppl to pull it out, if it had hit a human full head on i think we could've scraped hamburger meat off the snow....

seriously, ski with good brakes, loose skis and snowboards are so dangerous, especially inbounds !

i broke a break two years ago. broke the heel piece that goes down when you step on it off. so i removed all the moving pieces, took off the plastic pad thing, put the end of one of my pow straps on the spot and screwed the heel pad back down. i was able to easily loop it around my leg and it worked fine

My ski has speeded down to the bottom of the park several times. It ruins your run, it's annoying and people get pissed at you.
