Fat Rockered pow ski that kills in the Park??

Is there such thing????

After looking around NS for older threads ive been looking at Hellbents, Sir Fransis Bacons, and old Lizzies.

What other skis would u recomend? I Live on the east coast, ski mostly park, but i want to get into pow skiing more. Hopefully alot of backcountry/sidecountry booters this season. I am also taking a trip out west this year so i am planing to get into some deep snow eventually.

Ability level: advanced park/all around skier
Uses: pow, then park

sparknotes: fat pow ski that i can comfortably take in the park

i bought hellbents new the month they first came out 4 years ago and im still skiing them. THeyre awesome, theyre really versitile for how big they are and ski really well switch even though they arent symetrical. and beacuse they arent symetical they perform much better going forwards that fully symetrical ones. Theyre poppy as hell, and really fun on boxes and rails. theyre wood core too and built really well so they hold up really well which i can attest for. Ive skied some other rockered skis but these are still by far my favorties. THe hellbents are just so resposive and playfull eventhough they are so big and give you so much float. So if you get the hellbents im sure youll be happy with them

EP Pros are sweet. Lighter than bents and super fun in the park. Sweet pretty much anywhere actually, just stay on your game

I ride last year's ObSETHeds (105mm underfoot) as my only ski. I used them in the park and pow, and while a bit on the heavy side, they have stiffness underfoot with medium flex in the tips. They work really well on jumps, and are manageable on rails (which I'm not the best at). The rockering isn't huge either. I ski Loon on occasion and am also tempted to buy bigger skis, but it really isn't necessary. IF however the urge defeats reason, look into Bentchetlers, JJs, or SFBs.

Surface one life, but also look into the Line blends, I think yet are all that you need for a ec pow ski, 100mm underfoot and tip and tail early rise

ep pro's are so fun in the park, they are my park ski actually.
i can do 270's on no problem on my ep's even on super small rails

Well you could probably 270 on some 220s, but EPs are just "not the best" my lizzies are much better at the jibly jibbery.

you dont need 130 underfoot for east coast pow. something thats about 100 underfoot and has a little early rise will float almost as well, without sacrificing hard snow performance.

s3, kung fujas, on3p jeronimo would all be solid choices.

I wouldn't go any wider than 105 under foot if I were you. Just rent/borrow some deep-pow ski's if you're going a week to the west.

thanks for the input everyone! So far im really liking SRB, Elizabeths(if i could get my hands on a pair), blends, and still posibbly hellbents. Should have told u guys that i have park skis already, im looking for a ski that i can take out west, on ec pow days, and can still hit decent jumps and rails.

blends, definitly.

sfb's might work, might, but they are really wide for a EC pow ski

lizzy;s aren't pow skis and if you ski it like one, you cant really be doing it right,
low tip+soft ski+pow= screaming backseat.

blends have enought width for pow in the east, as well as enough for pow in the west. people did ski on 90mm pow skis a few years ago

Old obSETHeds or current Kung Fujas do the trick for sure. But if you want bigger, Pettit skied his new obSETHed in the Orage Masters and it worked out just fine for him! You would get better versatility over the HellBent on harder snow, but the same full powder rocker tip to butter. Fun skis.

thanks! So its between Blends and SFBs (...and possibily hellbents too)

im leaning toward the Blends right now becasue its the best of both worlds that im lookin for. (hellbents suuuuuper wide and SFB might be too wide also)

Has anyone skied the new Blend or SFB and would care to tell how they ride in park, groomers, and pow?

This is coming from someone who owns or has owned Elizabeths and EP Pros and demoed the new Sir Francis Bacons and Blends. I have also demoed Hellbents.

For park performance the Elizabeths win with the new Bacons being almost as good. The Blends are alright too and EP Pros are far behind. The EPs are fun to play with but far too clumsy and scary at speed to actually do anything with. Some might disagree, but this is how I feel about them. Hellbents are really similar to EP Pros.

The Blends are great all mountain skis but in my opinion the Bacons are simply better at everything. Well alright, Blends might be better at hauling ass and doing long turns on groomers, but I love the tighter radius on the Bacons. Obviously Bacons will be better in powder too and in the park Bacons are a lot more fun than Blends. Bacons are actually really similar to Elizabeths in park.

Damn we should have an edit button. Bacons aren't too wide for park, they are only marginally wider than Elizabeths. I actually prefer wide skis in the park. They make stomping your landings feel super good.

ive skied east coast pow on 90's, i think they might even be like 88, and its no problem. You don't want to go bigger than 100mm if you want to do it all on the east coast. any wider and its gonna be heavier, and harder to ski on the regular shit we get.

I ride my Sir Franis Bacons in the park and love them. They're great for buttering around and have a small swing weight so everything from nose butters on the switch ups is doable.

Honestly if you live on the east coast and ski mostly park get something like the Jeronimos. Yes there 96 underfoot and arent an actual pow ski, but for a one ski quiver they'll be perfect, they'll still work fine in the pow but will be a lot more like a park ski when your in the park.

But if you really want something really fat and you like that feel in the park, yea Bents or something, probably not this years though as I think they made them quite a bit fatter, not sure though.
