wow, just heard about this...pretty cool shit.

not to be the pessimist here...

but it would be cooler if they were doing this to raise funds to bring even more improvements to the mountain

instead they are just paying off debt to intrawest and their parent company Fortress

eliminating debt is a good way for a company to look good on paper, it's just apart of doing business.

I know, I know, a company paying off debt these days sounds INSANE

oh im not hating on the move...

i just don't want people to be disappointed when they hear about 300 million being raised and think they will be seeing immediate results on the mountain

in terms of a normal business, depending on the industry, there's usually there's an optimal debt to equity ratio (meaning some debt is often good)

however whistler was damn near the point of a firesale bank auction, so they clearly need to pay some down
