Just took them today. Its so retarted I gotta pay $20 and then $70 for the SATs to a private company to go to collage. And the time you get is so short. It just sucked. So NS how did you do on your PSAT's? discuss. By the way there was a question that mentioned Sigur Ros. I was pretty exited
the PSATs are such a waste of time. Didn't prepare me one bit for the real SATs. The questions are dumbed down x10 and it's not half as long as the real one.
psat doesn't matter at all. at all. sat = very very important. study a lot for your sat, take practice tests and classes or whatever you can do. because if you don't do shit in high school, but do well on your sat it will help tons. its like; don't study for any high school tests except this one.
i took the psat but that was a long time ago so i don't remember what i got...
don't take the SATs if you don't have to...
ACT is easier. so if the college you want to attend only requires one then i'd go for the act....
if you answer a question wrong it doesn't deduct points from your score.. but on the SAT it does.
PSAT's aren't really meant to 'prepare' you for the SAT.
They are really meant to determine Natinal Merit Scholars, and to get you scholarships. If you end up scoring really high on them, you can end up getting scholarships from them which is pretty sick.
It was something like "When Thom Yorke heard the Icelandic rock group sigur ros, he was so impressed that he invited them on the Radiohead Euro Tour" and you had to find the mistake
I took it on Wednesday, it was way easy, the English section sucked, but math was a cake walk. I ended up skipping over like 20 questions on the critical thinking.
i remember when i was 15 but really...get ready to be shafted by stupid college fees and the ACT is sooo much easier than the SAT so take that if you can
Most scholarships are only a few thousand, you can get more than that simply because of the color of your skin. Besides, they're only given to a few people, the chance of even an above average kid scoring that high and getting money is pretty low. Its a title to put on your college ap, nothing more.
And yes, they are terrible as a tool to prepare you for the SAT. If you want to do good on the SAT, take practice SAT's. As someone whos tutored SAT's for two years, its really the best way to improve your score without a tutor or class.
well, i took it at school so i got to miss classes for it. i figure 14 dollars was put towards a very prodcutive reasoning. the whole point of the timeing thing is to see if you can think under pressure. Some mental tatic is thrown in there to give you a curve ball.
haha no i had an eye appointment after it which was scheduled later because of the psat and i was supposed to go mountain biking but all my friends left me cuz i was at an eye appointment so now i am sittin here all lonely with nothin to do
the worst part was the eye appointment was pointless
haha
he basically told me i have 20/15 (awesome) vision in my right eye and that my left eye has astigmatism and i could wear one contact if i like but if i dont it will not be unhealthy for my eyes and my left eyes vision will not worsen any more
so basically it was a huge waste of time and money (expensive as shit imo, not stoked to have to become an adult and pay for things)
and he just gave me a sample contact and im wearing it right now. It feels like shit and i still only use my right eye to see with it in
but in all reality my problems are not problems and i am just a whiny spoiled american fuck
oftentimes kids get scholarships if they meet the finalist criteria instead of getting them directly from the national merit scholarship corporation. for example, my dad works at boeing, so they gave me a scholarship. a lot of schools give scholarships based on psat scores too. like usc gives a guaranteed half-tuition scholarship to national merit finalists.
I got that one. The math was really easy I really dont think i got one wrong. end claim/ Some of the insert the correct word ones i had no idea about. And some of the sentences were hard. Easy or hard it was a fucking waste of time and money.
