Should i center mount chronic cryptonites?

i just got some line chronic cryptonites and i was wondering if i should center mount them with marker squires? i was at 2 back last year i think and i never went center but i do mostly park now because pennslyvannia mountains have like no good trails. if i mount these center is it a major adjustment from 2 back or will i still be able to carve pretty good and how much does it make a difference in the park?

im 5 foot 10 and these are 163 (i know they short but i like a lighter shorter ski and i wanted 166 but line went from 163 to 171)  i didnt know if that makes a difference for my binding question but i added just in case

For pretty much pure park, center mount them, tons of fun, I know that most of the Line team center mount theirs and love it there. There is a bit of a transition getting used to a center mount ski, but it's really not that hard to get used to at all, takes a few runs usually, and then you'll be in love. However, if you have to option, I would re-think those bindings, they are a cheaper, lower DIN version of the Griffon, so they wont be as durable (and Griffons have had some issues in the past in that department). I realize there might be a money issue or something, or maybe you've already bought them and if so, you might be ok, I just personally wouldn't trust them, but that's me.

thanks ur answer helped a lot, im gonna either center mount now or go really close and about the squire i heard they were really light weight and a pretty good binding from what my local shop said but i didnt buy them yet so ill look into the griffons. i will get the griffons depending on how much my old skis get me in a swap or consignment. but thanks  for the advice.

Marker is cool, also look into Fks and look piots, same binding as far as i know, just diferent colors.

if a 12 din is enough for you, check out rossi freeskis/axial or the look p12's (different name, virtually the same binding). A few year back I had a pair of these and i really liked them. I think they are cheaper than griffons too

i have narrowed it down to the look px 12, the marker griffon, and the rossi freeski. so does anyone have these bindings and people are saying that the griffons arent durable but if im just 150 lbs then will they be fine for me because im not out west doing big mountain or anything. i really like the lightweight of the griffons but if they arent durable like im hearing im leaning towards the rossi freeski as my back up to the markers. i cant find much info on the look bindings

Px12s and freeskis are the same binding, they're pretty heavy and are decently durable, griffons are lighter and maybe just slightly less durable than the px12s. I'd go with the griffons out those 3 because they'll basically be the same durability wise, but the griffons will be lighter and have lower swing weight, because of that weird looking toe piece.

thanks. i wanted to go with markers in the beggining but a bunch of people were scaring me with the durability thing but i guess ill go with them then. i really was looking for a lightweight binding in the first place but every one was all dont ge them cause they are plastic on other threads. but i dont weigh that much so it shouldnt be that bad

yeah my first skis i centered they were new edges and all granted it took my a bout an hour to get comfortable riding fast espicially because of the edges

yea im leaning towards center right now just how much carving ability do u lose once u get used to it compared to a normal mount. like is it noticeable

You can still carve its just different like any change it takes a bit of time to get use to but i cant imagine not skiing something centered unless it was pow and i centered my pow ski to so...

carving on a center mounted ski is a little different, takes some getting used to. From my experience (I had bindings on last years anthems, set to -2, which broke so I got new ones and set em to core center) it's a little harder to hold a nice long carve, and balancing through edge transfers can be tricky, but it's tons more fun in the park.

Typically a ski can hold up to 3 sets of drill holes before losing stability, so I would say try it out at center, if you don't love it get it moved back to -2.

ok i just found a deal on last years jesters where i can get them for 189 or should i go this years griffons for 229? i know this seems like a no brainer to go with the jesters but i dont weigh that much so should i go with the lighter griffons or hop on the jester deal? cause i dont think i need the burly design of the jester when i weigh 150 lbs but what do you guys think?

about the jesters i was looking at they are actually 2009 not 2010 if that makes any difference in the decision (2011 griffon for $229 or 09 jester for $189) cause i didnt know if they got changed that year.

Nice! I ski PA too..7 Springs, you?

but yeah, i'd definitely go center for a place like PA. You'll be in the parks 95% of the time simply because theres practically nothing else to ski that your not down to the lift in 45 seconds. Skiing them at center will also be a lot for fun for jibbing around, which is what im using doing when outside the park..just messing around. For me, it literally took like 1 run down the hill to get used to the center mount. it really isnt that big of a deal, but it does help in the park for sure!

i ski at skiroundtop, skiwhitetail, and skiliberty mostly. but last year i did a weekend trip to seven springs on the weekend you guys got 32 inches in febuary!!!!!! Hollllllyyyyyy SSSHHHIIITTT!!!!!!! crazy awesomeness there man. we scheduled that trip months in advance and just got lucky that it was the weekend of the 100 year storm blizzard from the gods.  that place was amazing!!!! i guess i think i little better of it then i would normally because of when i went but on the first day the parks were closed cause they got too much snow (but the pow was unbelievable especially for here) but the second day we went parks and they amazing man and so is whole mountain. I would say hands down best east coast resort especially for parks on the east coast.

Yeah, that weekend was INSANITY. Best memories ever! But yeah, the parks are dope, the park crew does a great job with keeping them well maintained. Springs actually was rated #1 park on east coast in transworld this year

yea i got soooooo lucky that we went that weekend. my moms minivan got stuck for a little while  cause it started when we were almost there. but im 15 almost 16 so im gonna drive up there like every saturday next year cause their parks are dope. they have such well maintained features. it is night and day between south central pa slopes.

so the generally people mount them on center? I just picked up a pair, and I am coming off anthems. I loved the anthems, but I am worried that I will either love or hate the chronics.

i got them and plan on center mounting them. also thinking the 4frnt deadbolt 12 bindings. think those would work well?
