i've been eating lots of salad lately.. sooooo good.


but i'm looking for new salad recipes because i only know of a couple.
so do any of you NS members like salad? and what are some good salad combinations?

inb4 stupid thread/this thread sucks. etc.

I prefer to eat real food. Sometimes a side salad is nice...If it has meat on it or something.

i'm not vegetarian or anything, fuck that. i love real food.. but i've been eating like shit lately and the more healthy food i eat the more i start craving healthy food... so i'm trying to eat better haha

Organic salad green mix
Muesli cereal
Chopped kiwi
Chopped apple
Freshly squeezed grapefruit
Don't remember if there was a dressing or not.

try spinach leaves
feta cheese
your preferred vinaigrette dressing
sliced strawberries
and sliced almonds

simple and delicious. you can also squeeze a little lime

i'm actually a pantry chef at a nice place in boise.  the newest salad we've been doing is a wedge salad with an iceberg head cut in half blue cheese dressing drizzled over the top, tomatoes, blue cheese crumbles, spiced-candied walnuts, toasted almonds, and top it off with some hot bacon lardoons.  anything blue cheese + bacon will sell.  im a fan of a traditional chicken ceasar though.

Yessir, I know what you're saying. I'm not saying that I don't like salad, because they are really healthy and can sometimes be really good. But I just prefer other foods.

where do you work? i live in boise..

caesar salads are pretty bomb, but only if the dressing is just right. i got a caesar salad from McDs once and the dressing was disgusting.. I can't find any good store-bought caesar dressing, it has to be home-made or w/ a recipe from a restaurant

steak is the best food in my opinion, with a nice au jus dipping sauce, some garlic mashed taters or potatoes au gratin and a nice warm roll and a yummy side salad.

i usually just get some lettuce, throw in some tomatoes cut in small pieces, some cucumber, salt, pepper, and then for dressing i do 1 part olive oil 1 part balsamic vinegar. fuckin delicious

Pittsburgh Steak Salads are the shit. It's about the only kind of rabbit food that I thoroughly enjoy. I mean, who doesn't like a salad loaded with a pound of steak and french fries?

Yes.

There is a woman at my mom's work who complains that she eats a "salad" everyday, but isnt losing weight. The salad consists of half a head of iceberg, a tomato, 3tbspns of Mayo, Caesar dressing, cheese, bacon and chicken. probably >30g of fat in there

I don't see why some people are under the impression that salads loaded with unhealthy shit are still healthier because just of the name "salad"...Take the salads are any fast food restaurant. They usually have more calories and fat than a chicken or fish sandwhich and yes fast food may not be the best argument but people can justify eating them just because they are called salads and are "fresh and healthy".

My opinion I don't eat salad at all and really don't enjoy the taste and it is pointless. I will enjoy my apple.

some salads are really unhealthy and others are very healthy.. all depends.
i love the taste of salad therefore i eat it. i even put apples in my salads sometimes.

I had salad everyday for lunch all summer... my recipe is simple and i like it ... a whole bag of a salad mix(with different kinds of salads, lettuces and carrots) and a bit of greek meditarranean dressing

well kinda yes, because the whole thread you were implying that salads both nutritious and delicious.

but i'll have a salad from time to time. not the packaged bullshit or salad from a restaurant(besides olive garden), it has to be made by me to insure the quality of its ingredients.

because i've worked in a number of those privately owned establishments in the last 5 years, yes i am.
everyone talks so much shit about chain restaurants and fast food joints but to be quite honest if you do that you know nothing. all of those places are held to a much higher standard than your typical "mom and pops" diner.

your own cooking>$50+ a meal catering food>classy restaurant>chain fastfood>privately owned restaurant

I as well love salads. I usually put a ton of cheese, a whole smorgasboard of veggies, croutons are a must, and grilled chicken is my personal favorite meat on it. And to top it all off bacon makes everything better.
