Powerful pictures

In another thread a picture was posted of 9/11 and hoodratz said that there were few pictures as powerful as that of the World Trade Centers. That got me thinking as to what the most instantly recognizable or powerful pictures throughout history were. I'll start with a couple and ppl can post up whatever they think of.

I have done a lot of reading on the subject of concentration camps in general. Ok. I will be honest I do no know the exact numbers for the Soviet Union, but I do know that they continued the Gulags for a long time after WWII. I think that you are the one who needs to read some books.

I completely understand what you are saying and I'm in no way stating that neither the soviets/nazis are responsible for numerous killings.

But syaing that the soviets and the nazis are the same thing is simply not true and following your logic of associating the two on the sole basis of the number of killings is 1. completely out of context and 2. includes the US. your argument just lacks a little perspective bro

I guess I wasn't clear in my original comment. I do not believe at all that they are the same thing. Totally different ideologies, and system in general.

I was simply saying that because I have seen people bitch about people making posts about Nazi Germany, and yet they themselves think that it is cool to have a hammer and sickle in their sig. Does that make sense? No. Unless they actually believe in the communist ideologies, but I highly doubt. Many People seem to think that only Germany were the bad guys in WWII. Though I am generalizing there I have seen this on multiple occasions.

I'm pretty sure that's from the Auschwitz-Birkenau museum. I went there this summer, and it is by far the most depressing place i've ever been.

I'm aware that they stood for two different things that is pretty obvious. You're the one who's saying "Oh I'm half russian, I can have hammer and sickle and suck soviet dick blah ignorant blah blah." Did you ever live in the Soviet Union, did you ever live under a communist government? The hammer and sickle stood for one thing but represented a regime that was responsible for oppression, fear, and millions and millions of deaths. They were no better than the Nazis.

"De-Stalinization" does not erase what the Soviet Union did during Stalin's rule. So I guess your response to this is going to be something you research off wikipedia and then calling me ignorant or uneducated to make your argument seem somewhat more valid.

To me these are some of the most recognizable pictures of earth history. I am also posting whatever i think of and have available. I don't want to get some cliche pictures off of google because they don't reach out to me as powerful; probably because i was not there for the events. I think the pictures i have posted are very powerful moments in our earth history. I am not hating on any other pictures, i just want to see some sweet shit, preferably in picture format.

That is a picture of the fucking tetons, one of the most recent uplifts in geologic history on one of the most recognizable mountain ranges in the US and i don't know if you have ever been there, but they look powerful as hell.

for me personally this is probably one of the most powerful picture on the page.... there are lots of iconic pictures and some that are just thought provoking/ very very moving. But for me, i personally find this photo amazing.... the depth of the stare, the colour of the eyes... the dirty face and the natural beauty of the girl..... its got so much character. From what i understand they stopped making the the kodachrome film in may, and if you own it you only have another 2 months too develop it before they stop excepting it in the one place in the world that can develop it, the photographer who took the photo has been given the last roll ever made. and i think theirs going to be a nat geo dedicated to the 30 or so pictures that have been taking over the past year all over the world with the last spool of film. Basically what i am getting at is you will never see a picture like that again as of the end of 2010.....
