The logistics company that I work at during the summer and my dad is a vp for is almost done installing our first solar array. Its on top of a 550,000 foot warehouse- it is predicted to produce a little over a megawatt- they already have every other building and terminal for the company getting the process started on installing on their roofs.
My dad was telling me that they are projected to pay for themselves in 3.5 years- and then start selling back to the grid/powering our facilites- and this is coming from the chairman- who when he asked me about going to school for environmental law called me a tree hugger- so this isnt some overhyped bs
anywho the whole company is expected to produce well over 75 megawatts of solar power by 2014 when they are all up-
think of how many warehouses/massive buildings/walmarts and malls there are- I can see this taking off as more and more companies start this and prices go down
