Whats your guys opinion on mogul skiiers? I know some from like killington and lake placid and they ski park pretty well. Ive noticed a lot more in edits and i dont know whether they should put that on NS. whats your opinion?
How does skiing in powder not use use those three movements? A pow turn can be very similar in mechanics to a bump turn. I actually agree with you about moguls being great for your skiing, just not about the pow part.
What I meant was that, sure, you can tilt your ski in the powder, but there's not much (if any) edgework necessary in powder skiing. What I was trying to say was that teaching someone moguls is much more beneficial/efficient to improve a person's skiing technique than teaching them park or to ski powder.
Holy shit i say some guy at Kountry Kart Deli last weekend with the same suit, i knew i had seen it B4 and it was fucking rad to see at 2am while i was wearing shorts, that's why i took a pic. It made me so happy
I enjoy moguls. Only do it once a season, but used to compete for my school against Olympian Brit Cox (came second to her in the sate /claim) haha Came 3rd at Nationals once pretty unexpected but sweet.
At the risk of getting a bit too ski technique geeky on ns, you tip your skis over more in powder than in moguls, think about how far inside your body moves inside your skis in a powder turn, in moguls your feet stay much more underneath you. You're not using edges as much in powder as the snow builds up under the whole ski rather than just on the edges. As for which is better for peoples skiing, I'd say they were about the same.
what's wrong with knowing technique? Tilting does not necessarily equal edging. I probably should've specified that. You may tip your skis more but you don't edge more. in powder, you're using a more "slide and glide" movement on the flats of your skis, not the edges. The rest of your post makes no sense so I can't respond tot he rest of your post.
anyways, this is a stupid argument. moguls are fun.
I tend to fail at getting the style down.. but when you get it right.. and own them moguls, holy dang it can be a lot of fun. Super painful on the knees tho for sure.
I love powder. But there was something so damn fun about heading up to Bridger after class to bump some spring slush in a T-shirt.
I started skiing a more with a friend who coaches the freestyle team. I learned more about skiing in the first two days we skied together than I had in my previous 7 or 8 seasons. When you conquer a steep fast line, your confidence sky-rockets. It makes everything else seem easier.
