it is a snowboarding/skateboarding trick, why are skiers using it?

cab is a good term for skiing cause it's fakie spinning, but actually we cant go switch in ski in the meanning of the other sports.

from what i can detremine a cab is a switch takeoffwhile spinning unnaturally..right?, but it isnt a skiing term so dont use it

it means switch frontside i belive for snowboarding andd the such, but i like saying it instead of switch, who the hell cares if it's a skateboarding and snowboarding term

b/c we dont a frontside and backside direction to spin, we have left and right, hence it doesnt make sense to use it in skiing

and to the guy that is saying that we dont have frontside or backside, if we translate it, when we spin to the left, its frontside, when we spin to the right, backside(if we compare to the regular stance)

frontside and backside do not exist in skiing no matter how cool you think it sounds. Spinning natural and unnatural are exactly the same, just opposite ways....obviously ones harder than the other,etc, but frontside and backside only apply to sports where you are riding sideways aka skating and snowboarding, not skiing. The term cab therefore should not be used in skiing, because we cant differentiate between front and backside spins, so cab isnt the right term. It shouldnt really be used for snowbarding either, since in order to do a real 'caballerial' you would have to start with a fakie ollie, in other words lift your leading truck after your following truck. 99 percent of the time in snowboarding, they just use it to mean switch frontside, because they hardly ever actually 'fakie ollie', they just switch ollie.. If you know anything about skateboarding youll know what im talking about (if i make any sense)

It's retarded to say cab because in skateboarding cab means fakie spins not switch spins. If you skate you know the difference between the two. There is no such thing a skiing fakie.

well you're even more retard cause fakie in skateboarding is when you use your tail as your nose and vice versa, wich is the samething as switch in ski. the switch of skateboarding is impossible, except if you want to ski with your leg crossed.

its just different in skiing than skateboarding, such as offsides is different in soccer than in football. when i say cab 5 or cab 3 ect. i mean just a switch 5 or a switch 3. well thats my view of it

Arsenic apparently you don't skate or have no knowledge of it. In skateboarding, where the term cab originates from, cab is riding regular but vbackwards. Whereas switch is riding the opposite way you normally ride. And Nollie is riding switch backwards. So either it's switch or cab but it can't be both. We muct make up our minds and come to us a universal term throughout the ski community. Just kiding I really could care less.

THE TRUTH:
switch frontside is CAB: snow and skate
so someone regular, normally spins frontside(left) more comfortably than backside(right) but it they're riding switch then frontside is now spinning right and switch backside is spinning left. but technically there is no frontside in skiing because you face forward(except on rails) and a 720 isn't techinically harder depending on which way you spin it only adds diversity
cant expect everyone to see shit the way i see it cant expect anyone to be dope the way i be it.

I expected the rocky mountains to be alot rockier, that john denver is full of shit!

See that's the funny thing, is we won't make up our minds. And this thread won't solve the argument. Personally I think it's cool that you can call the same 540 a cab 540, a fakie 540, or a switch 540, and everyone knows what you're talking about.

in my opinion we need to loose the terms cab, frontside, backside, natural, and unnatural. like has been said before there is no cab in skiing. the dude above explained this. as too did he explain front and backside. as for natty unnatty, there shouldn't be a natural way. sure it is harder for most people to spin one way over the other, but if we want this sport to progress then spinning both ways is a must. in snowboarding if somebody doesn't spin both ways they won't go very far in the scene of trying to become pro. it should be the same in skiing. AND, when describing a trick if you say unnaty 7, how do you know what that actually is. it coiuld br right side or left side. this is why we should just say right side or left side, not natty unnatty.

Basicly we really need to loose natural and unnatural before it is a main stream term while at the same time kids don't have a natural and unnatural way of spinning, cause they started spinning both ways from the start.

caballariel is a fakie frontside 3 in the halfpipe on a skateboard.. then the term half-cab was used for a fakie frontside 180 on a skateboard on the ground.. i dunno how the fuck it got to snowboarding.. probably some stupid x-games announcer.. but it still makes sense if they are switch and frontside.. it doesn't make any sense whatsoever if you are talking about skiing.. this is purely a word stolen from snowboarding, which was stolen from skateboarding..

Heres the only way we can have the steezey backside/frontside trick label in skiing: Backside=taking off BACKwards. frontside =takeing off FRONTwards. then we defintly look like dumbasses.

ollie - regular stance, pop of the tail
nollie - regular stance, pop of the nose
switch ollie- opposite of regular, pop of the tail (which is really your nose)
fakie ollie - opposite of regular, pop of the nose (which is really your tail)

frontside - start SIDEWAYS and spin so your front is going down the hill first
backside - start SIDEWAYS and spin so your back is going down the hill first
(frontside and backside are different than this when you are going ON TO a rail, ex, FS boardslide)
