Why arent their any womens segments in movies?

Like really... Every segment is a guy. Thereare no segments that just have girls in them. I think it would be cool to have an all girl segment in a movie.

I love seeing a girl kill it. Any guys on here that talk shit are 1) just trying to be funny or 2)  homos that wouldnt know what to do if I girl came on to them so all they can do is talk smack to make themselves feel better.

This is the same old argrument, but after reading half the replies is it any wonder why some girls go into the park, eat it, get laughed at and never go back?

There are some girls out there that WILL kick your ass. Rachel Burkes, Ingrid Backstrom, Kaya Turski, and many, many unknowns out there just rippin it on their local hills.

Yes, it will be hard for the top girl skiers to ever match the top male skiers, but I know in ski cross we'd ski the same course and run practise heats mixed genered. Sometimes girls like Ashleigh McIvor would beat all the guys. I used to chick a lot of the the guys on my team too in training.

In big mountain girls are skiing the same venues as men, and chicks like Jackie Paaso are throwing down lines and cliffs as big or bigger than the men. I've seen some girls take some gnarly crashes trying bigger lines, features or tricks in the back only to get back up and try it again. You have to understand that girls are a lot more prone to knee injuries and a lot of us are on the rehab back from surgery at one point in time or another, its hard to instantly be back ontop of your game right away. Look at most of the pro females out there, within the past 2-3 years most are coming back from major injury. At least they're pushing it in the first place.

Its hard to justify more female sements in big budget movies because it seems the industry and the viewers are content with the "one token chick segment". I know I'd like to see more, but yeah, lots of the industry do read forums like these... and I'm SURE they're just ITCHING to fork over more money to fund more women on their pro team, or pay for segments in movies when 75% of the comments regarding womens skiing is "Go back to the kitchen" or "Whats she doing on the hill in the first place, make me a sandwich!"

Good for a girl, better than a guy, whatever.. I know I do it for the rush. Nothing beats that feeling after pushing your boundaries and trying something new, whether its a bigger cliff, new line, or new trick and you're shaking head to toe from the adrenalin.

I'd love to see half these sexist little boys come to Whistler, and watch them get worked over by the chicks that ski here.

Agreed! While I can't do the tricks. The girls do better than some of the guys on here. I don't even see how what sex you are matters when your under six inches of puffy ski jacket.

Idk about other people, but whenever I've seen girls in the park they always get tons of props. This is the internet, not real life, people on here talk shit because they're essentially anonymous. The same 12 year old fucktards that post shit online wouldn't say shit to anyone in the park because they'd be too afraid. Either that or they're the kinda kids who laugh at people from the lifts and just stand at the top of jumps and never hit them because they want to look cool. I fucking hate those people so much.

You know what would fix this? If more kids got their ass beat for being cocky pricks. Skiing can be such a "cool-guy" club....it's obnoxious.

In pretty much every other sport/activity/whatever I've been involved with, people with skill and experience have a degree of humility and love to help others progress...in skiing, so many kids are unbelievably insecure and feel obliged to be standoffish and aloof.

Often yes, the venues are the same, but not always.  The best ski(or snowboard) contest in the world is the Verbier Extreme.  The women are not skiing the same venue there, yes their start is on the Bec De Ross, but it is not nearly as gnarly as the guys start.

There are plenty of women out there killing it, but  I think some of the segment criticism is misguided.  If women were judged as skiers, not as women, would we see more girls in ski films?  No, if anything there would be fewer.  It is not that women like Burks and Backstrom are not killing it, they are, but there are local(male) rippers at places like Squaw who are killing it harder and not getting any recognition.  Like it or not, women are being put in movies BECAUSE they are women.  As hard as Backstrom kills it, would she have a full segment every year if she was a man?  I don't know.  Robb Gaffney is a better skier, and he was never able to get any sponsorship.

The other side of that coin, is that women can reach other women, which is another market.  That is what this all really comes down to, whether it is worth it financially for the companies to shoot more women. 

The lack of women in films is NOT sexism.  If there were women throwing down harder than the guys and not getting recognition, then yes, it would be.  I have no problem with seeing more girls in flicks, it is a good thing, but please don't claim that there are girls out there who kill it as hard as Sage or Seth, because that is just not true.

well unfortunately it is apparent that women can't put together a segment as well as males. In no way am I being sexist, its just the way it is. If you see women's comps compared to guys...who has the better tricks? Who wants to buy a movie with a bunch of sketch tricks with hardly anystyle? its the truth. sorry

its the same as in so many other sports, there are such few girls to begin with, and the progression of these girls is just not always at a level where showcasing it would draw an audience, let alone having such a small female audience to begin with. i am not trying to be sexist, but so many killer shots are left out of the main feature of these movies, why would you take out even more to cater to such a small audience?

film companies make these movies to draw crowds, and again, not to be sexist or insulting, but i honestly do not look at a girl's segment that is banger for a girl segment, yet mediocre in comparison to the rest of the movie to be a selling point. thats not to say that i would not buy a movie because there are girl segments, or that i would not be stoked to see a girl kill it, but if the only thing i heard about eye trip, or any other movie, was that there was a banger girl segment and nothing else, i would probably not make that movie my top pick for the season.

again, no hate to the female freeskiing community, but the sport is still very male dominated, and there is still not a big enough audience to put more female segments in movies.

its unfortunate, but its a pretty vicious cycle, there isnt a large enough audience to warrant more girl segments, and in turn, female skiers dont get as much or enough exposure, leaving female skiers without role models to give them a push to progress, making it harder for girls to get video segments because there isnt that same level of progression as there is in the male segments.

no sexism, no hate on girls, dont ban me haha

Girls- I'm with you. Every guy in here who is making the same joke I'm sure can be pretty disheartening and annoying I'm sure. But remember that these guys are probably 17 and under, and it's what's funny to them. You can't chose who you are getting responses from on the internet and therefor get the kids who still can't decipher between genuine wit and a dead horse.
You can think that guys are all assholes and whatnot and trying to make a difference is a waste of time, but for a second think back to yourself at that age- you were probably in some way a bitch. You probably recycled jokes or put someone down to make yourself feel good. It's not girls in skiing, it's not a lack of people caring, it's the age. and everybody went through that stage. Even if you think you didn't, you were there.
