I like gopro, even though they are both HD, I find the go pro has smoother video

Personally i think the contour is better. While the resolution and framerate are the same between the two, i find that the colors on the contour are more vibrant and crisp.

BTW you can get a waterproof case for the contour for 40$, but to be honest its not really necessary.
