I have the smith maze and its a great helmet. HOWEVER, I would recommend browsing through Gear Talk a little bit, as there are a lot of different helmet reviews in there.
I've been wearing and RED HiFi for years, but I think I'm finally getting a new POC Receptor Bug. I really like the fit and the look, and I don't think it gets much safer than POC.
WHY do people ask for advice for a helmet? Go into a ski-shop, or any store that sells helmet and just get the one that FITS your head! Wearing a helmet when it doesn't even fit your head is even more dangerous!
soooo, correct me if I'm wrong here, but aren't helmets supposed to break in a massive impact? I was pretty sure thats how they keep your skull from exploding.
ya. your supposed to get a new one after each crash, even with no visible damage. also, helmests are designed for the general population. if you want a strong one, there are specialty ones out there. a few of my friends that have gotten concussions have them. also if you seriously rip and tend to knock your head around a bit, ive heard a littlre about multi-impact/high-impact helmets (different that POC multisport, but I believe similar to the ones for people with concussions)
i have been using giro helemts for the last 3 years. encore for 2 and a shiv for 1. I would really reccomend the shiv, its light comfy and looks sick. I have only good things about bern, POC, and smith too
