Im hot waxing my skis this season, and was wondering if i should get all temperature wax or cold/warm temperature wax. Is there that much of a difference? I think i would just end up using the cold a lot and only end up using the warm temp. wax during the spring time. Thoughts?
If you can thoroughly mix the warm and cold wax then you can make a wax that should do pretty good for your needs. I personally use a universal wax so I dont have to wax as much but I find myself waxing alot when temps drop
Swix ch7 is a pretty good all around wax for average temps however if you live in the east I typically use ch6 or LF6 during mid winter, december through feb. There is something to be said for using the wax within the temperature range that is stated for, ie. wax is made for different temps, with different mixtures but the most notable to you will be that colder waxes are harder than warmer waxes. With that in mind if you are just skiing regularly most ballpark temp waxes will be fine. Overall if you hotwax a decent amount of times per year despite if it is hot or cold, you will notice faster skis, any wax is far better than no wax.
i like all temp cuz i will usually wax when i have time like midweek around twice a month, and i'm not going for like shaving milliseconds of time, just nice and smooth. i know that temp wax is better, but i don't care that much, and i don't see much use for it for me.
