Full tilts comparing to Dalbello?

So I went out to a boot fitter a week ago and he pointed me in the direction of the Dalbello Krypton Rampages. I tried them on and liked the way they fitted. Now here is the deal. I can get some full tilt conflics. And I was wondering what is the difference. I would go to a boot fitter with them in stock it is just that the nearest boot fitter with full tilts in a hour away and I dont think I can get to the fitter in time.

So my question is: How do they compare to each other?

i fit perfectly on FTs and not at all in Dalbellos, if the rampages fit, get them

thats the thing. I havent been able to try on any full tilts. I want to know how they compare.
oh and are you still interning at ON3P?

Dalbello owns fulltilt i believe. or they just use the some molds, i think dalbellos are way better boots than fulltilts.

I have the same thing. you must have a narrowish foot. I like the rampages because they have a smoother flex and they are easy to mod if needed.

So I think I might risk ordering the full tilts then if they dont fit I might have to send hem back. But all in all it will be cheaper than the dalbellos.

I love my rampages, they fit me perfectly right out of the box. Mine were only like $400.

Why not just go with the boot you have been fitted with? They are both 3 piece designs, Just because kids here spout FT all day long does not mean it's the best boot for you.

even though the hype train is thick, i would seriously suggest trying the full tilts before you buy anything. I bought the original conflicts when they came out 4 years back and i still ride them. I've seen dalbello liners get torn apart pretty badly before too. FTs might may or may not be the best boot for you, you wouldn't know till you try them on.

same i love my rampages and i never get shin bang or toe bang go to the bootfitter and see what he says. if you just order the fulltilts they will never fit well. u want to get them heat molded at the shop first. or u will never enjoy a boot to its fullest

i loved my dalbellos, i have krpyton rampages. but recently they have been pinching my ankle, to the point where i can't buckle the bottom buckles past the first notch and i have to completely unbuckle it to hike. They had never done this before, but my left ankle was bright red and slightly swollen at the end of the day. At first the dalbellos fit will, but they got slightly wider as they packed out. I went to a bootfitter, and he put me in a pair of fulltilts, and they are the comfiest things ever. they are also crazy light compared to my dabellos. I am going back in a week or two when they have everything in stock, and I am getting full tilts. But thats just me and my crazy narrow feet. I loved the dalbellos while they lasted, and at the end of the day you have to go with what fits, not what says tom wallisch on the side. To OP you'd likely be better off skiing in a fitted race boot than in a way loose/way tight park boot (this is a little extreme but you get the idea.

Well you were told wrong. They do not use the same mold, fulltilt uses the raichle molds from 20 years ago, Dalbello uses their own. The only thing that is similar between them is the 3 piece design, nothing else.

torden, ive had my dalbellos for 3 years now and i love them.

collin is spansed by dallbello too, ive tried his krypton il moros on and they are pretty nice.

also, you know they have FTs at bill and pauls right? or is that the place thats "an hour away"?

I love my dalbellos. My calf wouldnt fit right into Full tilts so I cant really say much except they feel really light.

No. No. and no.

Full tilt is part of the K2 trademark. They use the old Raichle molds. Dalbello is partnered with Elan and is manufactured out of Italy with their own molds. Yes, they have a 3 piece concept that they share but thats it.

I personally have dalbellos. I hated the original liner and it broke down in about a month and a half of skiing for me. The intuition liners (full tilt has something similar) are money. I agree with liking the dalbello buckle system more.

Don't buy a boot without trying it on. If its money you are worried about, drive the hour to the shop to try them, it'll be worth it if thats what you end up getting.

threadjack. I have some dalbellos with the intuiton liner 26.5 and they are really compressing my feet especially in the toe area. is it because they have a small toe box and are for people with smaller feet? I went to the bootfitter and everything..

yes, but the fit of the boot is wider than how dalbellos and FTs fit.

They look the same but do not function the same way. The Ace of Spades doesn't rely on the tongue for its stiffness, its flex comes from the same place that overlap (non-fulltilt/dalbello) does.

k2 owns fulltilt but i have no clue about dalbello, and dalbello is a complete differnt fit besides the fact it has 3 buckles!

The Ace of Spades do work in the same as Full Tilt/Dalbellos. I have Ace of Spades and they have a third piece of plastic that sits on front of the tongue, just like Full Tilts do (my previous boots were Konflicts).

The main difference between the plastic tongue on my Full Tilts and my Ace of Spades is that the tongue for the Konflict can be switched out to make the boot stiffer/softer.

I have skied in rampages for the last 2 seasons, perfect fit for me. I tried some hot doggers recently and thought they fit but after wearing them in the house for a bit, I realised they were too narrow. They also felt shitty in terms of quality in comparison to the dalbellos and have a much lower cuff.
If you fit Dalbellos don't take the risk of ordering FTs without trying them on first. They are not that similar fit wise.

Hope i can help, so yesturday i hit my local store too try some boots. I have the spk kaos in 26.5 from 2 seasons ago and they are a little beat up. So first of all i tried the dalbello krypton (green/white) they fit me well and like the flex on them,( kinda stiff ), after i tried the ace of spades, they fit a little thighter than the krypon and they felt lighter too in my opinion. I tried some fulltilts too and i dont really like them compare too the 2 other they were lower quality, but yea they are light ( who the fck care about weight btw ) In general i would not say that they are the same boot and they did not fit the same. No boots fit the same, so try them before buying. Btw the best thing to do whit your boots would be the mold them and buy a sole that you mold to your feet, its worth the 100$ and it will last you for a long time, you can swicth from boots to boots

if you think your going to need boot work done, stretching/grinding/whatever go dalbello, those shells were meant to be worked on, the FT's shells are not.

Is this a rule of thumb? My right foot is almost a full size larger then my left, I had a very minor grind in the right toe of my konflicts to even things out. I don't understand how this could compromise the performance of my boots. Please explain.

Stretching makes the plastic thinner whereever it's being stretched, grinding takes away plastic. the shells on FT's are not thick. the dalbellos are very thick.

You can do custom work on any boot really. The Dabellos are not built to be shaved, stretched, etc any more than any other company. The Dabellos typically come with a ton of extra pieces so its easier to customize without going to a professional. You will find that certain sections will have thicker plastic, making it easier to change throughout a wide range of companies. You can grind out instead of punching or stretching in these cases. I can't personally challenge the thickness on a fulltilt cause I haven't ever really investigated. The only reason I see them to be different is because of the old molds they use combined with thicker plastics to be newer technology... But I wouldn't go as far to say Dabello is made for/easier to work on.

let me re-phrase. in comparison to the FT, Dalbello is better for grinding and stretching since the shells are 3-5mm thicker than a FT shell. k2 didn't change the molds in that regard when they created FT.

when comparing a krypton to any other highend boot, tecnica agent, ace of spades etc. shell thickness is similar.

FT shells unfortunately are thin in comparison to majority of todays boots.

I'm pretty sure you're wrong.

My understanding of boots are that dalbello rampage and il moro are 98 last, full tilts are 99 last, and the ace of spades are a 100 last, so they're all a bit wider then each other.

I don't agree with this statement & I can't see how you can prove this either. Unless you are the plastics engineer for the companies? Also, as far as the lasts go (please school me if i'm wrong) Its not weird to assume the boots for other companies will be wider because this is the first season that FT has made a "higher volume" boot. All the shit the previous years has been pretty dang narrow.

Umm, define 'higher quality'?! IMO opinion the 'quality' of Full Tilt's plastic is lower than it's competitors. I have FT Konflicts and the material scratches very easily (so low yield strength). Also the bottom of my boots wore down very quickly and it looks like bits chipped off (low fracture toughness). On the other hand, I don't buy boots because they resist scratches and chips. I buy them because I think they feel good to ski on and my Konflicts were awesome for me. I now use Ace of Spades as the sole on my Konflicts got so worn and beat up that they started to wobble a bit in my bindings (I tried to adjust the bindings to compensate but couldn't get rid of the problem). I love my Ace of Spades but that doesn't necessarily mean they're a 'better' boot, they're just better for me (mainly because they just fit better out the box). I will say that I think the Intuition liners that came with my Konflicts are the best liners I've ever had. The ones in my Ace of Spades are already getting packed out after about 10 days (but those days were in the summer, which definitely makes a big difference as liners break down much faster when it's warm in my experience).

I will say that I think my FTs and Ace of Spades are better than any two piece boot I've had for almost all situations. Don't know about Dalbellos but my sister went from Lange to them and loves them. It looks like they're a few boot fitters posting so I'll defer to them when it comes to fit and such for boots. Quality of p

'Quality' of plastic wise I think I'm qualified to give my opinion. I'm not a specialist in plastics but have a BEng in Materials Science, an MSc in Composite Materials and a PhD in Mechanical Engineering (specifically in aerospace composite materials/structures).

My full tilts were way lighter than my dalbello's and all around better, but you can't go wrong with either. Go with what fits best.
