we got a couple cars full of kids ready to bring some rails up to some real snow and don't know where to go. weve read about st mary's and 4th of july, but dont know the status this late in the season. but we're fucking itching to ski. looking for somewhere that wont require a multi-mile trudge with a rail!
any advice would be awesome thanks!

sick dude. My thought is St. Mary's would be your best bet depending on where you're at? This late in the season I doubt there is much snow, but probably plenty for a few rails and it is a pretty short hike compared to most places. I'm in Boulder and itching to ski as well. Let me know if you head up and who knows hopefully it's already snowing up at higher altitudes.

I did St. Marys 2 or 3 weeks ago and it was pretty bad. There is snow and a couple of rails, but the snow is real icy and has big sun cups everywhere.
I'm not sure why you'd make a trip this time of year, especially since the warm temps have slowed down snowmaking. A-basin and Loveland just started making snow last night, since it was the first cold enough night in a while.
You'd have a much better time if you waited a few weeks for A-bay or Loveland to open and went there.
