No, but seriously, would it be so bad if President Bush went on TV tonight and said, 'OK, it turns out there are no WMDs here, but we've noticed that if we stick a straw in the ground oil comes out, so we're going to give all the oil to halliberton, thus creating jobs for all the iraqis, and we're going to be paying 87 cents a gallon for the rest of our lives'? Is there really any reason to argue with that?

I just counted, and theres 127 reasons why thats a horrible idea. haha.

Sure it sounds all lovey-dovey and grand, and oh, everyone wins. But you forget the repercussions both at home and abroad, Bush will be perhaps hailed by some liberals (though not by me) for admitting and pulling out. But he will lose his conservative base by jumping ship on the mission, his image is that of strength and perserverance, it violates the character he's created for himself. The Iraqi's, especially after the prison incident, would be unwilling to work for us, the tyrannical United States. If you want to strike up an oil partnership, give them the bulk share of business control - that puts money in their economy and also eases our burden as far as gas and oil prices go.

That plan would simply not work.

That plan = your plan. And giving the control of the oil business is essentially stealing, its not our country, yet we put our corporation in control? Thats unethical and immoral. Besides, thats a violation of 'dispensing patronage,' i.e. the government unfairly favors a politically affiliated company. Giving the control of oil to Halliburton would create a hegemony over their own oil drilling. And last I checked, that fell under the category of imperialism. Do you really think Halliburton will give all the jobs to the Iraqi's? I don't think so, it will be an American dominated and influenced business where the Iraqi's will most likely have little control, all the while - we exploit their resources.
Bad idea.

Shit's going down over there, and it sucks for all sides, I can seriously say the U.S. won't pull out of there till we see a marked improvment in the stability of the country. All I'm pissed about is I'm gonna have to go back there again, soon, making me deployed away from the states for 1 year 9 months out of the last 2 years by the time it's over and thats if all goes well... There's alot going on and alot to be pissed and disappointed with.

EC-Andrew, iraq is basically in the process of becoming owned by the US if not already owned, minus the small insurgent uprisings that are killing 5+ soldiers everyday. thats what occupation is, another group comes in an takes control until the country and survive on its own.

Fact of military: specialized troops---including pilots, SEALs, green beretes, etc---train their little fannies off to kill people, and most of them never see combat. Thus it makes them happy, as nutty as it may sound, to go to war, because they finally get to put their ridiculously hard-earned educations to use. It isn't as sadistic as you guys are making it sound.

and, wouldn;t it be great if iraq envaded the us becuase we had oil, and many many weapons of mass distruction? wouldn;t you support them? ^You know what scares me about that study? Its numbers are clearly inflated. Bill did not have a 182 Quotient. Some of those numbers must be too high by about 40 or 50 points. Gore is the only man who's run for office that I'd believe to be a genius. So... if all those numbers are too high, what does that suggest about Bush I and Bush II?
...Not a hell of a lot, that study is bunk. I just thought that would be a funny way to interpret it. Bush Sr. was not a stupid individual by any means. And you seriously thought that half of your presidents were smarter than Einstein? Come on.

Jaross: just because he did not receive the popular vote does not indicate that Bush is a dictator. He was still polyarchically elected (by the same method as all US presidents), unless you really want to nitpick, in which case the proof is a bit vague. So that scenario really doesn't pan out.

They hated each other, conflicting religious and political views. They attempted to collaborate at one point, but couldn't overcome those differences.
