What program do you use to listen to music?

I've been keeping my laptop clean and free of unnecessary programs, but Windows Media Player just won't cut it because I can't figure out if it plays .m4a files. I've used iTunes, the Zune player program, Rhapsody, Winamp and a few others. I still don't know what I should use. The Zune player was sweet, and i would like to avoid iTunes if possible since it's so plain (prob won't buy anything on iTunes anyway).

Anyways, what does everybody use for bumpin tunes on their computers? I need suggestions!

Ive used Winamp before, didn't mind it, but when i wiped my computer i just stuck with iTunes. Ctrl+t, sit back, enjoy the show.

iTunes is simply the best for organization and ease of playlist use.

Sure, it might be a little bloated and take forever to start up on PCs, but its just the best, no question.

Winamp would be 2nd choice for me, but I have an ipod, so its a no-brainer.

iTunes is good, but won't sync with anything that isn't an ipod. Winamp is pretty dope, but doesn't organize your music for you as well as iTunes.

is anything as good as organizing music as itunes is? on my last comp itunes did a good job of that and could find album covers and stuff, it's just so plain though. itunes feels like the internet explorer of music players, and i'm going for chrome if yaddamean

Foobar, by far the best. Customizable, open source, plays every type of file out there, and loads like lightning compared to itunes. Get a iPod support attachment for it and put it on, and it syncs your ipod easily too.

VLC is good, it runs just about every time of file out there. Low on memory usage. Runs easily. Simple and neat looking.

I import through iTunes and use it for managing me iPod, but Foobar is the best program for playback. Supports every format i throw at it, I can bypass WASAPI and get decent sound. Best of all, I can use it as an active crossover and get a decent mono sub out.
