Hi guys.
I'm starting park skiing this year, and I'm wondering if there's anything I should know before I start. Also maybe basic things such as landing jumps and rails. Thanks

Hi guys.
I'm starting park skiing this year, and I'm wondering if there's anything I should know before I start. Also maybe basic things such as landing jumps and rails. Thanks
when i first started park skiing i was a little intimidated because other people were so good i was terrible. dont be afraid of what other people think, they were at your level at some point. committ to everything! this can be tough to do but youll be surprised by what you can do if you committ 100%. know you limits and dont push your self too fast. call out "dropping next" if youre about to go so you dont cut people or get cut off. if youre having trouble with a trick, ask someone in the park, theyll be nice and help you unless theyre an ass hole
the way i learned to do rails was just slide them stright on at first to get the feel or sliding. then one you get more comfortable with that, start to turn you skis a little more perpendicular to the box each time untill you are completely turned 90 degress to the box. keep you feet a little more than shoulder width apart and have some bend in your knees. make sure to commit!
for jumps, start on the smaller ones and get comfortable in the air. once you are, try some bigger jumps. practice skiing backwards before you attempt a 180
get a trampoline! they help
get skis that are the right size (too long skis make it muuuuuch harder to spin)
aim for 360's for now. dont worry about what other kids are doing...
ski with people either on your level or a bit better - this helps you progress faster
doing things with the right technique(spins and rails) helps a ton- its not all about being fearless.
HAVE FUN
im sure this has all been said but.
always ski with friends. make sure theyre the kind of friends that will be there to support you and not just laugh at you the whole time, although that is to be expected some of the time.
put yourself in a very self confident mood and try hard not to be intimidated by other riders or the features themselves. i find that when i tell myself that a feature looks easy and that i can do it, 9 times out of 10 it ends up working out
make sure youre having fun, and if youre not take a break and take another run to settle yourself.
