REI Ski mounting

I search bared and didn't think anything..

I know there is that picture of REI messing up in their catalog...but is there anything actually wrong wiht using them to mount skis? I know it probably depends on the store, but has anyone had a bad experience there?

REI is the closest place to me, +k for help!

I took my recently bought used Maden AK's into the Seattle flagship store a few years back. They redrilled the toes only it seems, but didnt even look to see where the heelpiece was set at (pegged all the way forward of course). First day on them I had a few unexpected crashes, and the guys at Evo had a pretty good laugh over the story. Bottom line, they cost me a mount and used up a good mount. Only positive thing from that store is cheap gear.

meh, they mounted my invaders fine, dont see any reason not to go with them.

Yea they are good at mounting. Are they mounting again. They weren't during summer.

shops that take that long to mount piss me off, no way do they already have a bunch of skis needing to be mounted. a mount should be done in an afternoon, or even before you leave the store.

haha jk-but really, the rei here in madison wi is pretty slick, no probs and it takes only a couple days.

yeah i always wondered what takes them so long. I got my skis mounted during the summer and it took them 3 or 4 days.

Well around this time there is usually a large amount of skis waiting to be mounted, it is late fall. Don't know if you have ever seen the back of a store like EVO, Rei, or Sturtavents; fully stocked with mounts at the moment. Might be different out in the snatch-probably not the same type of volume.

could be they aren't fully ready yet, it means that techs haven't probably been re-certified or not many are on the schedule yet... there's a lot of legitimate reasons as to why it might take that long in the off-season.

yea, To work on many binding you need to become certified on them,  the test is not the same as the test you have to take to allow you to work on a different type of binding....so there can be a ton of tests, huge pain in the ass if your shop makes you do it.  But one youre certified and have been doing it for a while there's not reason it should take you more then 20-25 mins max to mount bindings, its allways anoyed me too when it takes a few days.
