I can see that. I can also see that with it being on everyone's mind, there will probably be at least one person who will think a bit deeper and do something.
What I was getting at was that I can see a lot of these girls feeling like they've done their bit to help against breast cancer, and will be less likely to actually do something useful later. If this idea for statuses was started by an organization (which it probably was), then every time someone started talking about the statuses they should bring up the organization. Enough people would check it out, and learn something that they don't know. Maybe make a donation. You know, something useful.
The way it is right now, people may be talking about it but that doesn't change the fact that most people don't know what to do to help. And the method (the stupid statuses) isn't going to trigger a very serious response.
So though whoever started it probably has good intentions, in reality I think it's just another internet fad to get girls to feel good about themselves. It's not the fact that people post the statuses that bothers me, it's the fact that they think it's going to make a difference.
