Can moderators please start signing their bans?

I was complaining for days about the random standards of moderators and the deletion of good threads while garbage threads (case and point at the moment: https://newschoolers.com/ns/forums/readthread/thread_id/566465/) stay forever.

THEN after witnessing the funny food thread where someone posted an arby's vaginasandwich which was not deleted and was quoted and the thread was on the front page for 21 hours (it might have gone longer but I was banned so I don't know) I GET BANNED FOR THIS:

"Why you were banned: Keep posting photos under the completely wrong categories, I dare you...
Your account will be restored on Oct 5th 2010 at 3:39:02pm"

Is it against the moderator code of conduct to send a warning message? I was unaware that properly categorizing my photos was so important.

P.S. thanks for deleting my incorrectly categorized pictures.

Can any of you guys actually name all the moderators on NS?

We're human. You also have to realize that 90% of what I have to remove now is created by trolls and aliases, and a policy of "always message first" wouldnt work. If theres a call for better moderation, then alright, never feel like you cant ask for it or complain if something was unfair. Best way to do so is to just go to the admins and write a very nice email, rather than create a pissed off thread, just for the future.

I have to agree with this line of thinking.

Not to mention, the bans that are handed out are for things that we shouldn't have to send messages about, and are directed towards members who know better.

Every ban I make takes into account a variety of factors, namely:
-Member Status - I have less tolerance for established members. You know what's expected of you as members and any deviation from this is scrutinized harder by me.
-Infraction history- Any history of bans or warnings lead to more scrutiny and less tolerence.
-How much of a pain in the ass the infraction is to clean up/severity of infraction- this one is obvious in a number of ways.

haha I already fessed up that I just randomly categorize most of the pictures I post, I don't frequent the pictures section so I was unaware that categorizing was such a big deal otherwise I would not have categorized them incorrectly. That is why I was surprised by the ban and the sassy message I received. I will start putting them in better categories now, not because of the ban but because I now know that it matters.

I recategorized my one remaining incorrectly categorized picture. Yes resorting to personal attacks is probably a good way to take this thread now. As I noted before, I didn't start a whining thread last time I was banned, it was just the fact that I received a sassed up ban for not using categories at the same time that the everlasting vaginasandwich was occurring. Plus I am still just angsty because I wanted to know if the similarities between the lincoln and kennedy assassinations were real but the thread was deleted before I could find out, and because the "what if only NSers were left on earth" thread got deleted.

I'm sorry but I'm still on OP's side. I mean if everyone is going to make a big fuss over this dumb of an issue you should at least have a good argument. I fail to see why he should've been banned. It's probably just as much effort to kindly ask him to re-categorize his photos as it would be to ban him.
