Necessary Randoms for a Go-Pro

I'm ordering a GoPro, and I have a 32GB SDHC, extra bat, grab bag, Ride Hero and Tripod mount.
Just wondering if I should have anything else in there?
Mainly for skiing and just using for fun.

Chest mount?


Comes in handy for mtb stuff, but I'm sure you could figure something out on skis too. Maybe an even better follow angle?

also, is the handle bar mount really necessary? i won't be using it for biking, just as a pole mount and was thinking that i could make something using one of these

i love the chest mount cause i found the helmet mount heavy on my head and annoying

Sounds like you're pretty set... might want to look into an extra battery or in the future an extended battery back or lcd screen, since those should be coming soon. Maybe some other mounts if you need them.

That + the curved adhesive should do the trick. It's all about getting creative and not spending money on mounts that you don't actually need.

suction mounts are always fun. but the go pro one wears out after awhile. and if you really want a chest mount you can suction the mount to your chest for like scare cams.

The handle bar/seat post mount is the one I use and appreciate the most. Because of the way it's configured, you can completely separate the fixture to set it on a cylindrical object without having to slide it all the way down from one end to the other. IMO completely worth it, plus, I use it for everything- if nothing else it's a perfect little hand hold so that your fat fingers don't get in the way of the lens.

the vented helmet mount is my favorite mount, because you can put it on all kinds of things

i'd add some cord to make a leash, a leash is a must, the mounts can fail and losing your camera would suck.
i have a mini tripod i found, which is pretty useful, something like a gorilla pod would be nice
i made a pole mount using a shower curtain rod, i just drilled a hole in it and put a bolt through that the tripod mount screws on to

A handy homemade pole mount is just duct tape, but it'll only last so long. I think we used a curved helmet mount and duct taped it onto a pole and that lasted for quite a while, then you just tape it again

meh, i find the handlebar mount well worth the money; it's actually my most used mount, and i don't even ride a bike :)

the main advantage over that thingy ^^
is that the handlebar mount can fit a wider variety of diameters, and it's also easy to place/remove + you also have a swivel arm attached to the h/b mount so it can be mounted on diagonal, vertical and horizontal bars without a problem :)

definately worth the money imho....

also a chest mount is a welcome addition simply because the helmet mount is so bulky, and in some activities you don't wear a helmet of your own but you will want good footage
ie. kajakking or rafting, you cant put an adhesive mount on a rental helmet and the helmet strap is too sketch, so you go for the chest mount :)

ducttaping a 300 dollar camera onto something that's most likely gonna go quite fast over harsh terrain isn't "safer", and definately not cheaper if your camera's gonna fall off ....

just spend the few extra bucks and get the appropriate mounts ...

^^yeah; helmet mounts and flat mounts i just reuse em with epoxy, but the handlebar mounts are definately a worthy investment

(also tripod mount can easily be fabricated from a regular flat mount ...)
