yea that's because they are aware that you currently live in a country where pants = trousers. (could also be an accent thing but i don't know of your accent)

Yea my accent is getting mangled but its still there.
was born in Oxford, lived there 1 year then moved to Brighton, so whatever accent that is, but my mum is from Horwich, near Bolton, so thats where the original english accent came from.
but since then ive lived in Barbados, B.C., Cali, and now Ontario, so its got a combination of all those.
Their more appealing and often more understandable. Don't believe me why do you think people trust the scottish accent more on telemarketing and all that? If I could be bothered I'd find the BBC report that said that, but I can't cause your obviously English and should know these things.
