Use sony avc(pretty sure 7 has it).
1. In custom select your framerate(same as footage)
2. select your frame size(1260x1080 is hd for vimeo)
3. profile = baseline
4. encoding = cavlc
5.uncheck allow source to adjust framerate
6.field order= progress(if your camera shoots progressive)
7.I do 20 mil bps but anything above 10 mil is good
8.click the project tab in on the bottom and change video rendering quality to best.
Hope this help, stoked to see some edits

I always render it to .wmv. its good quality both video and sound and the file is almost non existent. for a 3 min edit, its about 50mb at 720p. Just pick under .wmv, 6Mbps HD 720-30p video. You will have to make sure that your preview settings are close/the same as the render settings. but from what i have found, your pixel aspect ratio has to be the EXACT SAME for your preview and your render settings or els your clip position and your cropping will not be what you intended.

really? i just rendered a 3 minute 720p edit at 6mbps using .wmv and it was 200mb. It took twice as long as the sony avc and is the same size even thou the avc is twice the bit rate. .wmv is really a shitty codec. If your uploading to i guess it makes since(ns wont accept avc) but if your putting it on Vimeo or youtube use the sony avc

Sry i left out the word NS.
NS wont accept AVC hd so maybe use .wmv or .mov for ns uploads but other than that use avc hd
