octave is so much closer to matlab than any of the open source competitors to mathematica. Everything I've ever needed to do in matlab I could easily do in octave (mostly basic stuff though). I can't say the same for maxima/mathematica. Which is why I bought it!
unfortunately for our engineering stuff we have to use matlab and honestly its the bane of my life. it wouldn't be so bad if it was taught properly but it really wasn't so everyone, even the supernerds of the class, struggled (i still did pretty well in that class but thats a different story). i've heard mathematica is more straight forward and less like coding?
well they are not really designed to do the same thing. you can get really complicated in mathematica as well. Theoretically you could do just about everything in mathematica that you can do in matlab but in practice obviously matlab has advantages for numerical computations. To get matlab even close to as functional as mathematica it would take a LOT of toolbox ad ons.
Dont care what anyone says, got it for $1500, 400 miles on it, and its a 125cc. Guy didn't know shit about it, he told me it was a 50cc. Behold... The Yamaha Zuma
Got this thing new for cheap as fuck on ebay for $50 (normally $150+). The seller has no feedback but has sold like 75+ of these since he posted them. Kinda worried I'll never get it, but usually paypal/ebay will side with the buyer in scams so I'm not really that concerned.
Yea thats another thing that makes it sketchy, but it definitely wouldnt cost over $50 to ship, it comes in pieces in a smaller box, not fully assembled.
But whatever. Like I said, most likely it is a scam and I'll never get this thing from them, at that point I'll just go through the normal channels and get my refund. The way I see it, I either get lucky and scored a sick deal on this thing, or i'll have $50 in limbo for a few days, its not like I dropped $500+
