Sig is relatively new in the 1911 game and the guns have changed a lot since their inception, but I absolutely LOVE the P226 so I was willing to take a risk on the Sig 1911 despite a lot of hit-or-miss reviews, especially for the price. I shot a rental Sig at the local range and was quite impressed. It felt great in my hands, I was accurate, and I had no failures. I was on the Kimber bandwagon for a long time because they look awesome, but the first time I shot one I had a failure to feed AND a failure to go into battery with a new magazine. A lot of people swear by them, but I was sort of put off by my first experience. Maybe I'll come around if I have an opportunity to shoot another one. The Raptor is a damn fine looking gun and I still have a soft spot in my heart for it, but I'm not gonna pay $1300 for a gun that won't shoot out of the box.

Kimber is all about the name - they used to be considered a high end pistol and everyone got all worked up about them.

Now a days, I'd take a new Springfield or Les Baer 1911 before I bought a Kimber. Interesting choice on the Sig, can't say that I personally have ever been a Sig Sauer fan.
